Organization Overview:
The RWE Informatics research scientist will provide scientific influence and advanced analytics expertise in the generation of real-world evidence for Lilly’s portfolio. The role will deliver on analytic needs for either Diabetes, Immunology, Neuroscience or Oncology business unit. The RWE Informatics research scientist will use their analytic skills to deliver on observations studies, RWE requests, deep data reviews and doing advanced analytics work to drive innovative insights for Lilly products.

Responsibilities:

RWE Observational Research Analysis

  • Provide scientific and analytic input to protocol, develop statistical analysis plan, and participate in drafting of manuscripts and external disclosures.
  • Transform real world data (RWD) sources to analysis ready data sets enabling rapid generation of evidence. In addition, perform quality checks on RWD to ensure fit-for-purpose.
  • Apply the spectrum of advanced analytic methods to data based on understanding of the healthcare system to deliver real world evidence and interpret results to better enable drug development teams. Ability to deliver right-sized results with speed and value to the business.
  • Attends and influences in external forums and conferences dealing with RWE analytics and clinical/health information, particularly as it relates to RWE.

Health Information Standards and Delivery

  • Provides leadership and expertise on clinical vocabularies, terminologies, or coding systems that are structured to describe unambiguously the care and treatment of patients. Terms cover diseases, diagnoses, findings, operations, treatments, drugs, administrative items etc., and can be used to support recording and reporting a patient's care at varying levels of detail for the valid production of RWE insights.
  • Contributes to the development, communication, and adherence to RWE health information standards and processes as it relates to clinical standards, tools and technology.
  • Remains informed on the latest trends and standards in the acquisition, representation, and delivery of RWE health information

Health Information System Solutions

  • Proactively drive the use of data processes and tools to accelerate the development of the RWE STRADA Platform. This would include bringing innovative capabilities to improve effectiveness of the platform by users doing analytics on the platform.
  • Continually seek and implement means of improving processes to reduce cycle time and decrease work effort to maximize the return of the investment (i.e. technology purchases, data strategies, etc.) of the RWE health information assets/domains managed
  • Define, implement and be accountable for a lifecycle management strategy for RWE health information including that the structure, content and meaning, acquisition, storage, retrieval, interchange and representation of the RWE health information system are documented and well understood.


Asset Protection

  • Understand the confidential nature of RWD, personal health information, and company information and take necessary steps to protection it. This includes understanding various aspects of privacy as it relates to RWD and Protect Lilly.
  • Accept obligation on behalf of Lilly to ensure compliance that reflects the integrity of the company, including adherence to contracts outlining access, maintenance, use, and storage of data.


Basic Requirements:

  • Advanced degree in analytics related field (i.e. Informatics, Data Science, Epidemiology) or 5+ years of experience in real world evidence, drug development or commercialization
  • Proficient in use of health information tools and analytics languages (i.e. R, Python, SAS, and SQL)


Additional Skills/Preferences:

  • Experience using advanced analytic techniques such as machine learning, data/text mining, or visualization
  • Understanding of healthcare setting or degree in healthcare discipline
  • Capable of implementing epidemiological analysis methodologies. Expertise with clinical vocabularies, terminologies, or coding systems that are structured to represent the care and treatment of patients.
  • Demonstrated experience in building analysis methods and systems toward processing, organizing, analyzing, and visualizing clinical data and information from disparate data sources.
  • Expertise in foundational data archetypes of structured and unstructured RWD, including various types of RWD
  • Experience working with Cloud (AWS) and high-performance computing
  • Strong comprehension and communication skills including the ability to translate and disseminate complex scientific information in a clear and concise manner
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate within and across teams

  • Location is flexible in desired geography
  • Domestic and international travel may be necessary

Lilly currently anticipates that the base salary for this position could range from between $140,000 to $192,000 and will depend, in part, on the successful candidate’s qualifications for the role, including education and experience. Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance). In addition, Lilly offers a comprehensive benefit program to eligible employees, including eligibility to participate in a company-sponsored 401(k); pension; vacation benefits; eligibility for medical, dental, vision and prescription drug benefits; flexible benefits (e.g., healthcare and/or dependent day care flexible spending accounts); life insurance and death benefits; certain time off and leave of absence benefits; and well-being benefits (e.g., employee assistance program, fitness benefits, and employee clubs and activities).Of course, the compensation described above is subject to change and could be higher or lower than the range described above.
