JOB SUMMARY
The Habit Burger Grill is looking for an experienced Director to lead the Real Estate and Market Planning team in Development. The candidate is responsible for executing The Habit’s strategic roadmap for new restaurant growth while managing all portfolio activities and be part of the Development leadership team with counterparts in Strategy, Design, Construction, and Franchise Business Development. This position will report directly to the Chief Business Development Officer (CBDO) and will lead Real Estate acquisition and market planning activities while also managing internal Development real estate resources (direct reports of real estate managers, and support staff). This role is responsible for identifying real estate opportunities within the United States for both equity and franchise business partners. This role will work in conjunction with franchise recruitment, design, construction, operations, and our franchise partners. This includes strategic market planning, site and data analysis, lease and/or purchase & sale negotiations, acquisitions, ground leases, and build-to-suit development in the restaurant industry.
This position is ideal for leaders who have a passion for real estate development and enjoy strategic problem solving.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Lead the real estate and market planning team to identify opportunities and maximize profitable global development
- Oversee and evolve the market plan approval process to ensure all proposed development meets appropriate guidelines and strategy
- Deliver a robust pipeline of deals that allow for properly paced and sequenced openings
- Consistently apply strategic imperatives in site selection and development and thoroughly research all deal and site components vs. success criteria
- Leverage negotiation skills to coach REM’s on best practices to secure deal terms
- Provide project management leadership and discipline to the approval process
- Develop complete comprehension of financial model imperatives
- Manage vendor relationships and leverage big data to make business decisions
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
- 10+ years of experience working in real estate development
- BA required, MBA or Masters in Real Estate preferred
- Experience leading teams and building an inclusive culture
- Strong collaboration skills are a must to work with vendors, field partners, and franchisees
- High integrity and work ethic
- Experience scaling a brand is a plus
- Strong business acumen with a high sense of curiosity
- High energy with focus on detail, as well as excellent communication, presentation, organizational skills
- Restaurant, retail, or multi-unit experience is preferred
COMPENSATION
Salary Range: $151,900 to $178,800 annually + bonus eligibility. This is the expected salary range for this position. Ultimately, in determining pay, we'll consider the successful candidate’s location, experience, and other job-related factors.
