JOB SUMMARY: Lead sourcing strategy development and execution, align the strategic business objectives of the company within the supply chain management, and provide leadership to the purchasing team. Working with a team where responsibilities focus on sourcing material parts and supplies for the organization to ensure the manufacturing process runs efficiently.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee and manage the development and implementation of strategies for the purchasing team. Understanding the requirements, analyzing the market and industry conditions, and developing strategies to source materials in manners that are best suited to achieving the company’s business objectives.
- Responsible to recommend, develop, implement change, and maintaining processes and procedures within the department to improve efficiency and effectiveness in providing Supply Chain services.
- Sustained cost reduction activities within the supply base to achieve annual goals.
- Manage and Direct a Purchasing Team of Buyers
- Training and Development of all team members for a scalable solution for the company’s planned growth
- Determine training needs and gaps of the Purchasing team, develop and manage programs for team training and development, fair and appropriate administration of discipline, employee recognition, and employee performance appraisal in order to foster the highest levels of customer service, teamwork, employee involvement, continuous improvement, and effective and efficient operations.
- Develop and maintain a strong relationship with key suppliers, and serves as a single point of contact for issue resolutions.
- Drive Supply Chain process efficiency in the company’s ERP (Infor-LN) such as vendor setup, PO management, and receiving.
- Analyze and adjust plans to provide for new product releases, scrap replacements, engineering changes, marketing forecasts, material shortages, or equipment malfunctions. Make appropriate recommendations to optimize resources and reduce or eliminate delays.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Required: Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain.
- Preferred: Master’s degree in Business, Supply Chain. Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM)
- 7 years experience in Materials management with 3 years in a leadership position.
- Understanding of Material Requirement Planning (MRP)
- Working knowledge of SMT manufacturing and the common commodities required in the manufacturing process
- Required: Minimum of 10 years of work experience related to the Duties and Responsibilities of this position is required. Related experience consists of managing teams responsible for sourcing strategy development, pricing, bidding, billing, and operational execution.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to read and interpret documents written in English, including safety rules, business periodicals, blueprints, policy and procedure manuals, and governmental regulations.
- Ability to write business reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak clearly and effectively communicate with customers, suppliers, and other members of the organization.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide into all units of measure; compute rate, ratio, and percent; capable of calculating figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
- Knowledge and use of computers to enter, manage and access data.
- Familiar with Internet, Inventory and manufacturing software, Order processing systems, Project management software, spreadsheet software, and Word Processing software.

- Familiarity with the company’s products and industry.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position supervises three (3) direct reports and a dotted line to receiving personnel.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
CPM and APICS certification preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, walk and stand; reach with hands and arms; use hands to finger, handle and feel, and talk and hear. The employee frequently lifts and/or moves up to 10 pounds, and may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Duties are performed in an office environment with typical office lighting, equipment and quiet noise level. The employee may spend time on the manufacturing floor where safety glasses, and closed-toe shoes are required to be worn.
