SUMMARY
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Selects and aligns dies in press according to specifications.
- Adjusts ram stroke to specified length.
- Positions work piece against fixtures or stops on machine bed or on die.
- Starts press and observes operation to detect misalignment or malfunction.
- Regulates air pressure and oil pressure.
- Inspects work pieces for conformance to specifications and adjusts machine to correct errors.
- Packages parts in appropriate containers.
- Cleans and lubricates machines.

QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED). One to three months related experience and/or training is preferred. Experience with air feed, roll feed, and secondary operations, and the ability to do fast setups within the department is preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals written in English. Ability to write routing reports and correspondence in English. Ability to speak effectively in English before groups.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to understand and convert to metric. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Must be able to read blueprints. Should be familiar with inspection equipment such as venire and micrometer.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to handle or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
