TRAINING

  • Maintain training program for EHS, Food Safety, and Quality content, including an annual schedule for all regulatory and plant-specific training.
  • Facilitate training courses, including Tech Services content for orientation of new hires or transferred employees.
  • Maintain and update training software.
  • Assist with safety and environmental initiatives to continuously improve plant safety performance and compliance.
  • *SAFETY COMPLIANCE
  • Assist with local safety efforts in all compliance areas- safety procedures and practices to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and State Regulations and workman’s compensation insurance.
  • Complete safety audits – LOTO, STF, Machine Guarding, Electrical, SWPPP, Lighting, Noise, Food Defense.
  • Collect data for OSHA 300 log, files OSHA log.
  • Run reports on plant safety metrics, training, OSHA, Minor Incidents, Close Call reporting and investigations, TRIR goals.
  • Develop and maintain JHA (Job Hazard Analysis)

PRODUCT AND PROCESS AUDITS

  • Complete process audits throughout the facility as directed by the FSQ Manager. Audits will focus on Employee Safety, Food Safety, and Quality topics but may extend to other areas of the business as well.
  • Prepare audit questions based upon a review of the written standard, procedures, and direction from FSQ Manager
  • Conduct the audit by observing and asking pertinent questions of the people involved in the process or performing a procedure
  • Document and report internal audits to verify conformance or nonconformance and effectively communicate audit results to the appropriate departmental manager
  • Record CAPA and conduct follow-up investigations to close open audits
  • Analyze audit data to identify trends and issue reports to management
  • Create/edit Manufacturing Operating Procedures (MOPs) based on audit findings
  • Prepare information for and support third-party SQF Audits
  • Learn new procedures, evaluate a process, create a corresponding audit for that process, and conduct new audits and assessments as determined by the FSQ Manager.

QUALIFICATION OF EQUIPMENT AND PROCESSES

  • Conduct tests on equipment and processes to qualify new products and processes
  • Create/edit training materials for new equipment or processes.

SAFETY AND QUALITY CULTURE

  • Build relationships with management, supervisors, and workforce to identify and correct safety and quality concerns.
  • Facilitate incident investigations, root cause analysis, site remediation, and closure of corrective actions as needed.
  • Work toward establishing localized efforts to support corporate safety and quality strategies.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCY REQUIRED:

  • Understands and follows established EHS, Quality, and Food Safety practices.
  • Recognizes unsafe work conditions and practices, documents and takes appropriate action to eliminate these conditions and behaviors.
  • Interprets safety policy, observes safe work practices, and provides input on safety issues.
  • Participates in incident investigations to identify root causes and implement sustainable corrective actions to prevent re-occurrence.
  • Check accuracy and completeness of information on audits and compliance checks.
  • Perform routine quality checks utilizing various software and Quality tools.
  • Address quality defects in accordance with established procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Working toward a bachelor’s degree in Tech Services area (EHS, Food Safety, Quality) or High School Diploma with at least 2 years of work experience in a related field or industry
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in auditing or training-related position.
  • Knowledge/experience with team facilitation required.
  • Knowledge of general workplace safety requirements and procedures.
  • Knowledge/experience with Safe Quality Foods Codes.
  • HACCP or HARPC certified.
  • Demonstrated and proven knowledge of GMP, MOPs, SOPs and SSOPs.
  • Direct experience performing customer audit standards
  • Bilingual (Spanish) required or preferred.
  • Strong computer skills, including IFS and Microsoft Suite.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work a non-traditional schedule including overnight shifts.

TRAVEL: Local and/or overnight travel is required 10% of the time.
