We are seeking an enthusiastic individual who is passionate about creating positive health outcomes for members of the Central Shenandoah Community. This position assumes a leadership role as a Clinical Generalist serving Lexington County. This role will provide a variety of services including Immunization, Outreach, and Epidemiology Support. The successful candidate will be cross-trained in all health department programs and will support the nursing team throughout the district. This position will require the nurse to perform assessments, home visiting, case management, care coordination, medication/vaccine delivery, and outreach planning. The successful candidate will partner with the population health team to create opportunities for clinical outreach to bring our services to the community.

If a new graduate, must obtain RN license as an RN license within 90 days of the date of hire or subject to termination per the regulations governing the practice of nursing.

Minimum Qualifications
Requires licensure as an RN in Virginia or compact state. Skills in physical examination, health assessment, interviewing and counseling technique. Knowledge of public health concepts, principles of public health nursing, epidemiology, basic nurse science, medical terminology, case management. Must be certified in Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR.

Preferred Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. Additional study in the area of health promotion/or public health is preferred.
Experience administering immunizations to adults and children.
BSN preferred.
Experience in a public health setting or one related to disease prevention and health promotion.

Special Requirements
Employment is contingent upon satisfactory results of a state and federal criminal history background check and the Department of Social Service’s Child Abuse and Neglect Central Registry check, U.S. HHS IG Exclusion List check, employment reference check, and E-Verify. The selected candidate must complete a Statement of Personal Economic Interests as a condition of employment, if applicable (Va. Code § 2.2-3114). Other financial, credit, driving, or other background checks prior to employment may be required for certain positions.
VDH requires all Health-Care Personnel (HCP) to provide documentation of immunization or evidence of immunity to the following: hepatitis B, measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella; a one-time dose of tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (Tdap) vaccine regardless of the interval since the last dose of tetanus-diphtheria (Td) vaccine was administered (Td or Tdap boosters shall be received every 10 years); and the current year’s seasonal influenza vaccination.

Local and out of state travel including overnight stay, may be required from time to time to attend conferences, meetings, training, coverage, and professional development. May require some weekend and/or evening hours.

A valid State Driver’s License if required to operate a state vehicle or if operating a personal vehicle while conducting business on behalf of the agency.
