Property Accountant


Our company is seeking a professional general ledger accountant for a position in our Raleigh corporate office. The individual will provide full accounting and reporting support for the Real Estate Property Management Team for our expanding group of family owned Automotive Dealerships.

Organizational Relationship:

The position will work under the general supervision of the CFO and the CEO of the Management Company. The position will interact with other levels of management in the organization including Facilities Construction and Maintenance, Dealership Operations Controller, and the Corporate CPA Firm and Attorneys.

Description and Duties:

  • Maintain accurate general ledgers for multiple business entities that own commercial property and automotive dealership facilities
  • Cash Management: Receipts - record and reconcile lease income and management fee income; prepare and make bank deposits. Disbursements - code and post payables; issue checks for facility improvements, repairs and maintenance, utilities, insurance, and property taxes; create and maintain vendor profiles in accounting system. Reconcile bank statements.
  • Assist with construction project accounting: budgeting and tracking of investment
  • Agree loan balances to amortization schedules and monthly statements
  • Filing and record keeping to ensure smooth operational flow
  • Prepare forecasts and variance reports for review
  • Prepare financial reports and fixed asset account reconciliations
  • Prepare annual 1099 filings
  • Assist with providing timely year end trial balances for review and submission to the Corporate CPA; record tax entries and reconcile adjusted general ledger to tax returns
  • Cross-train within the management company on other closely held non-automotive related businesses
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned by the CFO
  • Will respect and maintain the CONFIDENTIAL nature of this position, very strictly


Minimum and Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a closely related field. Considerable practical experience in a related industry (property management, construction) with a good understanding of the general ledger system. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensure is beneficial but not required.


Knowledge and Skills:

  • Sage50 Software proficiency (preferred) or Quickbooks
  • MS Office (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat experience
