Pay Rate: $21.33-$26.67/hour

Position Overview:
JFS is looking for a compassionate, mission-driven individual to coordinate the soon to re-open College Avenue Older Adult Center (CAC)! In this role, you have the opportunity to use your passion for working with older adults and outgoing personality to make a meaningful difference in a community setting. The Program Coordinator plays an integral role by planning CAC’s calendar of classes and events, as well as offering support to our congregate lunch program. The Program Coordinator will support the entire agency by building a positive rapport with clients and their families. This position reports directly to the Director of Aging Connections.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinating daily operations of CAC. This includes facilitating classes and events Mon- Fri, as well as lunch service, attending to needs of class instructors, and effectively supervising program assistants and volunteers.
- Overseeing development of the CAC Program activity calendar with the goal of maximizing opportunities and community connection for older adults
- Marketing and promoting the CAC and other JFS programming and being a source of other resources available to the community.
- Assist participants with reservations for lunch when needed
- Ensuring quality customer service for center participants and their families.
- Ability to interact with participants, families, vendors and community partners with poise and confidence.
- Overseeing program budget and performing basic bookkeeping.
- Tracking volunteer hours, analyzing and reporting attendance, surveys, and participant feedback.
- Managing the program office according to established agency procedures.
- Other tasks as assigned by supervisor.
Skills/Abilities That Are a Must-Have:
- Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Social Work or relevant human service field.
- Food Handler Certificate (may be obtained from JFS upon hire)
- Excellent reading, writing, and verbal communication skills with intermediate Microsoft Office proficiently (Word, Excel, Outlook & Publisher).
- A minimum two years’ experience working with seniors in a recreational setting.
- Excellent public speaking and presentation ability.
- Knowledge of the normal and abnormal aging process, senior social services, Alzheimer’s disease, and dementia.
- Knowledge of Jewish culture, practices and values.
- Demonstrated experience in innovative community building and collaboration (program development).
- Reliable transportation
Skills/Abilities We’d Like You to Have:
- Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Social Work or relevant human service field.
Additional Information Required Upon Hire:
Must be able to:
- Required to sit, talk and listen
- Frequently required to stand for long periods of time, walk, and use their hands and arms
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds, including a wheelchair and/or walker.
