POSITION SUMMARY

Support the Textile Manufacturing Operations in the scheduling of the mills, preparation of manufacturing systems, mill inventory, and production reports in a Lean driven facility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

  • Work with planners and internal customers to assess production requirements and with the mill to assess capacity, and identify changes needed
  • Establish and maintain plans and schedules in conjunction with mill management teams for wool and purchased yarn procurement, and for weaving, finishing, and blanket production. Schedules are maintained in the Yarn & Fabric Manufacturing System for reporting purposes
  • Schedule weekly fabric production orders
  • Monitor adherence to schedules and make adjustments where necessary
  • Create weekly and monthly reports pertaining to mill inventory and production
  • Act as mill liaison for communication between mill staff and internal customers
  • Support Mill Manufacturing Operation managers in efforts to reduce lead times and eliminate waste in production
  • Create, Publish, Maintain, and Monitor progress of all weekly production schedules, with review and approval of the General Manager-Washougal and Mill Manager-Pendleton, for coordinated production through the manufacturing facility. This would include Dye House, Carding, Spinning, Rewind, Dressing, Weaving and Finishing departments. It is also inclusive of yarn and stock dye needs for Pendleton
  • Work collaboratively with the Mill Production Coordinator in assisting to: Create, maintain, and monitor progress of published coordinated weekly production schedules

Develop and proper ‘warehouse management’ strategy to organize and minimize all stock materials in the dryer/mixing/roving area

  • Develop, apply, and engage Lean principles, while creating coordinated production schedules, to drive production “Flow” (as defined by Lean) through the production organization
  • Perform all duties in accordance with safety rules and regulations
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Advanced skill level in MS Excel; proficient in Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Proficient in the use of basic statistics
  • Capable of working collaboratively in teams and being productively independently

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree, a plus
  • 3 or more years of experience in scheduling/inventory control in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with ERP/MRP and familiarity with product routings and bills of materials preferred
  • APICS CPIM/CSCP Certification preferred
  • Experience with ISO 9001:2015, or equivalent quality management system, preferred
  • Or any equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities
  • Experience in production scheduling in an active Lean driven manufacturing environment

SYSTEM QUALIFICATIONS

  • MS Excel; proficient in Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Experience with ERP/MRP
  • Experience with ISO 9001:2015, or equivalent quality management system

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT

  • Primarily works in an office environment
  • Regularly visits Production Mill, requiring the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including hearing protection and shoes with closed toes and heels
