JOB STATEMENT: A Forklift/Squeeze Lift Operator must have working knowledge of all production material handling equipment operations. Understand all materials and or supplies needs for each area of the production process. Working knowledge of all line needs and appropriate supplies for each area is necessary. Must operate all lifts safety in all locations of the winery. Follow all Production and Shipping department procedures and safety guidelines. Meet all Hacienda and Barrel Ten forklift safety training requirements. Must wear safety glasses, earplugs, hard hat and protective gloves while on the forklift and in the production, recycle and pallet storage areas. Able to read, understand all safety warning signs, controls and will assist in any area of the winery as directed by production lead, supervisor or manager. Must be able to read and understand loading specification, Shipping, QA and Production sheets/tags, report any unsafe condition of area or unsafe act of other employees to supervisor immediately.
Essential Duties:
- Understand and comply with all ISO 9001, HACCP and GMP requirements and processes
- Able to drive all forks and squeeze lifts in proficient manner while keeping up with all productions speeds
- Perform and fill out forklift safety inspection sheet at the beginning of shift, for each lift operated
- Keep lines stocked with correct glassware at line speed
- Correctly identify all pallet tag, and warehouse tags for all products at line speed
- Make sure all products have the correct tags and identification on each load before staging
- Make sure all QA and Production tags are on each loads and are correct before moving
- Notify Supervisor or Shipping Clerk if issue with tags or product
- Fill out and interpret all paperwork for bottling, shipping and receiving
- Identify, separate, and stack in correct areas; all glass products that are used
- Assure all items are stacked correctly and stacked on pallets when requested
- Assure all pallets are secured with stretch wrap correctly
- Inspect case print every half-hour and fill out QA paperwork
- Dump all waste cans for all lines in proper receptacles at the end of shift
- Dump all waste cans in break room at end of shift
- Keep all shipping areas clean and free of trash
- Keep Recycle areas clean and organized
- Perform break-room duty as assigned
- Help as needed in other areas as directed by any Lead, Supervisor or Manager
- Participate in special projects during down times and wine changes
- Clean floor area around palletizers during slow periods or downtime
- Ensure all glass tags are facing toward the driver while receiving or pulling from a lane
- Monitor line operation from palletizer to the stretch-wrap machine discharge conveyor
- Check that all dock-locks for operating correctly before entering trailer
- Follow all safety requirements of loading docks and ramps
- Report to Supervisor if dock lock or ramp is not working properly
- Check or install two trailer jacks before entering any trailer
- Check or install two-wheel blocks before loading any trailer
- Work with Shipping clerk on receiving and shipping paperwork
- Ensure palletizer is producing proper stacking patterns
- Unload / stage all products or materials receiving in proper area as directed by shipping clerk or Supervisor
- Load trailers to proper specifications and loading pattern
- Perform all paper work, loading, and receiving procedures as defined in the Forklift Operator Handbook
- Able to work any shift, weekends or holiday as needed to ensure all production needs are met
- Perform any reasonable request by any Lead, Supervisor or Manager
- Must be able to assist and or fill in at Hacienda or NVDC as directed by Manager
- Able replace and reset all stretch wrappers and top sheets with rolls
- Keep the pallet storage, containment areas cleaned and organized
- Keep all plastic bailed and stacked
- Sweep or wash the containment area once a week or as directed
- Perform any other duties as assigned by Lead, Supervisor or Manager
- Must be able to perform all essential duties of GLW position
- Must be able to work any shift or rotate shifts as needed
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education/Experience:
- Previous General Winery Worker experience helpful but not required
- Previous experience with heavy machinery
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Safe and efficient fork lift operations
- Lift truck operations
- Keep bottling lines supplied
- Warehouse products correctly
- Load trucks - proper weight distribution
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Lift up to 50 lbs.
- Sit/stand for a long period of time
- Frequent forward reach

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT REQUIRED:
- Side shield safety glasses, safety vest, head/ear protection and proper footwear when in production facility
