Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Principal Scrum Master or a Sr. Principal Scrum Master to join our team in Linthicum/Baltimore, MD.

Summary of Role: This position will work with a highly motivated and engaged Agile team to provide oversight of the Agile framework to ensure operational excellence in product deliveries. Provide guidance and help educate the team in Scrum, Extreme Programming (XP), Kanban, and Scaled Agile framework (SAFe), ensuring that the Agile process is being followed. Help remove impediments and fosters an environment for high-performing team dynamics, continuous flow, and relentless improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform the role of Scrum Master as described in the Scrum Guide
• Act as a servant-leader and facilitator to support teams in the day-to-day operation of their lean-agile practices
• Empowers the team to self-organize and to take collective responsibility for delivering value to the customer through development of high-quality products
• Build a trusting, safe environment within the team where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or being judged
• Actively facilitate team events (e.g. Daily Scrum, Sprint Planning, Sprint Review and Sprint Retrospective) and supporting activities such as backlog refinement to ensure that the relevant objectives are achieved
• Promote effective engagement between the team and its stakeholders, by protecting the integrity of the team’s process to enable predictable delivery
• Help the team to identify coherent and achievable goals in consultation with stakeholders
• Support the team in identifying and addressing impediments to the attainment of goals, including taking action to remove impediments where appropriate
• Drive sustainable continuous improvement, including by collating and deriving insights from data
• Assist with internal and external communication, improving transparency and making information visible
• Support teams or individuals to improve performance and achieve goals through coaching and mentoring
• Provide training to impart or reinforce knowledge of Lean-Agile concepts, tools and practices
• Provide support with risk management, release management, and facilitate release planning activities maintaining and improving the flow of value delivery
• Take responsibility for your own professional development through training, mentoring, professional memberships etc.
• Support Northrop Grumman's growth by providing input to business development and capture activities as required
• Demonstrate the Northrop Grumman Leadership Characteristics at all times
• This position will be performed onsite in the Baltimore, MD area.

Basic Qualifications – Principal Scrum Master:

• Bachelor's degree in a related STEM field and 5 years’ experience, or Master’s degree in a related STEM field and 3 years’ experience, or a PhD degree
• 2+ years working in an Agile team
• Thorough knowledge of agile principles, practices and methods
• Practical experience of servant-leadership in agile teams
• Excellent organizational and facilitation skills
• Exceptional oral, written, and presentation communication skills
• Self-starting mentality and willingness to take ownership of difficult challenges
• Desire to drive change, implement new ways of working and think "out of the box
• Scrum Master certification (i.e. Scrum Inc, Scrum Alliance, SAFe, Scrum@Scale, etc.)
• U.S. Citizenship and Active Top Secret clearance
• Must be able to work onsite in the Baltimore, MD area

• Bachelor's degree in a related STEM field and 9 years’ experience, or Master’s degree in a related STEM field and 7 years’ experience, or PhD and 4 years’ experience.

• Practical experience of servant-leadership in agile teams
• Excellent organizational and facilitation skills
• Exceptional oral, written, and presentation communication skills
• Self-starting mentality and willingness to take ownership of difficult challenges
• Desire to drive change, implement new ways of working and think "out of the box
• Scrum Master certification (i.e. Scrum Inc, Scrum Alliance, SAFe, Scrum@Scale, etc.)
• U.S. Citizenship and Active Top Secret clearance
• Must be able to work onsite in the Baltimore, MD area

Preferred Qualifications:

• Engineering degree and 5 years’ experience, or Master’s degree in Engineering
• 2 years’ experience at NGMS or DoD
• Experience with Atlassian tools JIRA and Confluence

Salary Range: $99,800 USD - $149,800 USD

Salary Range 2: $123,800 USD - $185,800 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
