Job Summary

Within the spirit of “Making People’s Dreams Come True”, the Prep Cook Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the kitchen runs smoothly, preparing food and sauces, and assisting the head chefs with services. The position is also responsible for delivering Raving Fans customer service to both internal and external customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with washing and peeling fruits and vegetables, marinating meat and/or preparing sauces.
  • Follow orders from Sous Chef and Executive Chef.
  • Responsible for prep kitchen, coolers, and dry storage organization.
  • Ensure each proper utensils and equipment are used as recipe requires.
  • Ensure workstations, cooler, and dry storage are always clean and meet sanitary regulations.
  • Prepare and taste ingredients for accuaracy.
  • Check inventories and quality of supplies, complete produce order as needed.
  • Ensure dates and temperatures are checked and stock is rotated in line with use-by dates.
  • Ensure cleaning projects are performed and completed each day.
  • Ensure health and safety regulations are met.

Educational/Experience Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • Minimum of three (3) years Line Cook Supervisory experience.
  • One (1) year prior inventory/cost control experience.
  • Food background and extensive knowledge of all kitchen equipment.
  • Working knowledge and use of Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to groups of customers or employees of the organization. English is required for oral and written communications (bilingual, Spanish speaking a plus).

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands and fingers, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand and walk.

The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. This position requires prolonged hand and wrist movement/usage. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 70 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and extreme hot and cold environments. The employee is also exposed to moving mechanical parts, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is loud.
