RESEARCH DESCRIPTION: The Bagaitkar lab seeks highly motivated individuals to investigate how Nox2 NADPH oxidase regulates neutrophil responses in murine models of chronic inflammation and autoimmunity. Nox2-derived oxidants are essential in regulating the nature and magnitude of immune effector functions in various myeloid cells. The major focus of this project would be to mechanistically elucidate the role of Nox2 in lupus and chronic granulomatous disease taking advantage of various conditional knockout mice. In addition to being an excellent research environment, NCH offers multiple career development opportunities. The Bagaitkar lab trainees are encouraged to pursue these opportunities, write grants, and develop their own projects toward independent careers. - Strong background in immunology and experience in advanced cellular and molecular immunology techniques, including multicolor flow cytometry and other relevant techniques.
- Prior knowledge and practical experience in murine models of inflammation and infection and conditional knockout mice.
- Candidates should be capable of designing and carrying out high-level, complex research experiments independently.
- Applicants with a good track record of publication are desirable, along with effective communication skills and scientific writing skills.
