Description/Job Summary
The Portfolio Manager drives tangible outcomes by leading the efficient and controlled delivery of a group of initiatives underpinned by a common theme or related outcomes. They are the primary resource for reporting the state and performance of initiatives within their portfolio. They will ensure accountability and compliance with project delivery best practices and methodologies as well as contribute to the overall success of the PMO function.Responsibilities/Duties
- Maintain a strategic view of all initiatives in the portfolio and provide portfolio status reporting
- Execute large enterprise wide initiatives
- Coordinate with the PMO to increase consistency/alignment
- Determine, monitor and review resource requirements across projects
- Manage project interdependencies
- Share best practices and lessons learned and contribute to the continuous improvement of the PMO function
- Facilitate PM development
- Drive successful project delivery
- Support portfolio and project planning process
- Lead portfolio and project benefits identification
- Ensure the scope of the projects align with business priorities
- Address RAID items with project managers and initiate corrective actions when necessary
- Ensure adherence to governance and reporting processes
- Resolve or assist in the resolution of conflicts within and between projects
- Conduct reviews with relevant stakeholders on performance of projects. Provide recommendations on challenged projects.
- Ensure change impact of associated projects is communicated and understood
- Identify business issues that may impact the success of projects and work with other stakeholders to resolve these issues
- Conduct continuous reviews of the plans and outcomes within the portfolio to ensure delivery to plan
- Help team members harness and develop strengths in pursuit of successful outcomes
- Drive team accountability and transparency
- Determine portfolio direction goals and strategy on how the projects can best add value
Required Experience
- 10 years of experience managing projects and programs with increasing responsibility and scope/complexity
- Ability to champion portfolio or program goals and inspire and motivate team members while maintaining a strong partnership with leadership
- Serve as an advisor and build relationships across the firm community. Demonstrated experience in managing "upward" among senior leadership
- Strong problem resolution, negotiation, people management and influencing skills
- Ability to be results oriented ensuring that standards are maintained and results are achieved throughout the program
- Empower others by providing coaching and leadership
- Demonstrate flexibility and agility in adapting to changing needs and priorities
- Excellent project planning, budgeting and resource management skills
- Demonstrate ability to manage timeframes and critical paths involving multiple functions
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including a thorough understanding of how to balance customer business needs, resource capacity, and facilitate conversation to support competing priorities
- Strong written and verbal communication, and business skills
- Demonstrate ability to communicate complex information in a condensed manner to various stakeholders verbally and in writing
- Demonstrate experience with standard software applications, including MS Office, PowerPoint and Excel
- Ability to listen to and act on feedback; encourage and demonstrate commitment to knowledge/expertise
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and service excellence; propose and implement ideas for quality improvement
Required Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field; or equivalent years of experience required
Preferred Education
- Professional certifications as appropriate are preferred (e.g., PRINCE2, CAPM, PMP, etc.)

Salary Information
The estimated base salary range for this position is $180k to $200k at the time of posting. The actual salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. This role is exempt meaning it is not overtime pay eligible.
