APPLICANTS FOR THE POSITION OF RECORDS ASSISTANT
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Records Assistant is responsible for performing a wide variety of clerical duties including data entry, review and processing of reports and citations, filing, and general record keeping. The position requires the ability to exercise independent judgement, high attention to detail, strong organizational and multi-tasking skills, and the ability to provide exceptional customers service in a courteous and professional manner.
EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED
Experience
- Clerical or general office experience required; minimum three (3) to five (5) years progressively responsible secretarial experience. Experience with law enforcement records and processing preferred.
Education
- Minimum 18 years of age; high school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED)
Knowledge and Skills
- Ability to prepare clear and concise reports, correspondence and other written materials, typing 30+ WPM with minimal errors
- Utilize effective and proper English (oral/written), including spelling, grammar, punctuation and vocabulary.
- Basic knowledge of computers, ability to touch type, general knowledge of Windows operating system and Microsoft Office suite is preferred.
- Working knowledge of Tyler Technologies New World Public Safety software is highly desirable.
- Experience working with Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request is also desirable.
- Perform matron duties as required.
- Maintain required certifications (LEADS)

- Current salary range (DOQ and prior police records experience): $41,553 - $61,746
