The Product Function Engineer’s mission is to prepare new tire designs for mass production that meet product and industrial performances for Original Equipment and Replacement markets. The position offers a balance of technical design and industrial competencies, with dynamic levels of responsibilities. Initial training will include formal classes and on-the-job mentoring with an expert engineer.
With a collaborative design team, co-develop tire models which meet expectations for the customer and translate innovation into manufacturing specifications.
Conducts root cause analysis and develops actions to resolve manufacturing and design issues.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Define the technical specifications to manufacture tire models, meeting performance targets while accounting for industrial standards and constraints
- Identify and manage the associated risks for meeting the quality, timing, and cost targets of the industrialized tire
- Provide technical support to the factory, throughout the tire life cycle, to ensure design robustness
- Continuously improve the tire design process through the creation and deployment of new or updated tools and work methods
- Opportunity to work in an industrial environment in support of tire development
REQUIREMENTS
- BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a 4-year technical degree with design experience (GPA of 3.2 or higher preferred)
- Ability to work in multiple computer systems and applications (including 2-Dimension CAD system)
- Methodical problem-solving abilities and 3D thinking
- Effective communication and presentation skills
- Strong interpersonal and team working skills in a multi-functional and changing environment
- Ability to take measurements with various instruments (e.g., a ruler in 1mm increments, a loupe in 0.1mm increments), and distinguish product endings in a cross-sectional cut of a tire
- Will require training in Greenville, SC
- This position may require relocation after initial training (Pipeline). Flexibility to relocate to any of our manufacturing sites in North America is expected.
