JOB TITLE: Phlebotomist
POSITION SUMMARY
This position provides phlebotomy coverage for field services including all In-Office Phlebotomists (IOPs) and Patient Service Center (PSCs) in assigned areas. The Phlebotomist is responsible for accurately obtaining blood samples via venipuncture collection procedures with minimum patient discomfort and organizing/processing women’s health specimens. This role provides care to patients whose ages range from pediatric to geriatric and ensures specimen integrity by adhering to the laboratory’s procedures for specimen collection, handling, and processing. The Phlebotomist adheres to departmental policies and procedures, to include departmental programs, quality control, quality assurance and safety.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Follows laboratory procedures for specimen collection and handling
- Accurately enters patient data into electronic lab information system
- Correctly identifies patient data and accurately labels specimens
- Performs functions in an organized manner and uses time management skills to achieve departmental goals
- Follows all established guidelines and adheres to company policies and procedures
- Packs and prepares samples for specimen shipment and/or transport
- Communicates efficiently and timely with leadership to address and report all issues observed in field
- Submits all travel expenses timely and efficiently to management for processing
Management reserves the right to add, modify, change or rescind the work assignments of this position as business needs warrant.

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
Education / Certifications:
- High School Diploma, or equivalent
- Certification through ASCP / AMT preferred
Experience / Abilities:
- 3 years field experience as a phlebotomist
- Knowledge of multiple EMR systems is preferred
TRAVEL AND HOURS
- This position is full-time
- No travel is required with this position
- Monday - Friday, (8:00a - 5:00p)
