Permanent Supportive Housing Site Coordinator at The Chalet

Groundworks—a dynamic organization which works with people and systems to create solutions to end hunger and homelessness for all people in our region—is seeking a dedicated, collaborative leader to oversee its permanent supportive housing site in West Brattleboro, Vermont. This leader must embody Groundworks’ philosophy of dignity and respect, be well versed in harm reduction approaches, and have experience in providing quality supportive housing, building community and leading others. This position will set high service-delivery standards, provide services to residents, collaborate with community partners, and inspire team members to create a safe, welcoming, enriched community.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Supportive Housing Coordinator will achieve programmatic excellence through:

  • Building strong relationships with all residents and seeking their input
  • Creating enriching community-building activities -- residents’ meetings, classes, social activities
  • Providing support and assisting residents in navigating resources and seamless referrals
  • Building strong, collaborative relationships with community partners
  • Facilitating program planning, evaluation, and continuous improvement
  • Supervising 3 to 4 staff members and occasional volunteers in a team environment
  • Creating an exceptional workplace that promotes collaboration, ownership and leadership
  • Training staff and volunteers to enhance their skills and performance
  • Ensuring that all day-to-day operations meet the needs of residents, staff and volunteers
  • Complying with all funder and local regulations

KEY DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Passion for Groundworks’ mission, philosophy and nonjudgmental, compassionate approach
  • BA or Masters in social work, public administration or human services related field
  • Five years of nonprofit administrative, homeless services or program management experience
  • Experience in supervising staff, training, team building and creating a great place to work
  • Experience working with diverse populations, low income, substance abuse and mental illness
  • Strong knowledge of community resources and experience in navigating services
  • As a program partly funded by the Department of Corrections Transitional Housing program, applicants prior to final offer will be subject to a background check by the Vermont Department of Corrections.

The salary range for this position is $51,000 to $60,000, and we proudly offer benefits valued at $21,000/year.

Groundworks Collaborative was established in 2015 as a result of the merger of the Brattleboro Area Drop In Center and Morningside Shelter. We provide ongoing support to families and individuals facing housing and food insecurities in the greater Brattleboro, Vermont area. The Chalet is a collaborative permanent supported housing project developed by Windham & Windsor Housing Trust, with on-site services provided by Groundworks Collaborative. This project is modeled after the success of Great River Terrace, featuring 27 micro efficiency units, some of which are currently occupied, and 19 of which will be prioritized through Coordinated Entry, and receive project based vouchers through Vermont State Housing Authority. This project was funded and created to address the significant population of folks experiencing homelessness that were housed in motels funded by the State of Vermont in response to COVID-19.
