Per Diem Counselor Job at Coalition for Hispanic Family Services
JOB SUMMARY
Per Diem Counselors at the Community Residence are responsible for the daily supervision and care of eight children residing in the program. Per Diem Counselors are integral parts of helping children with psychiatric disabilities learn positive behaviors through the use of behavior management techniques and trauma sensitive practices. In addition, Per Diem Counselors are responsible for the daily up-keep of the residence, i.e., general cleaning, laundry, shopping, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Associates degree in human services and experience working with SED children and adolescents or a High School diploma/GED
- Strong interest and motivation in learning on how to effectively work with children who are experiencing social, emotional, mental health and/or behavioral challenges.
- Strong writing/record keeping skills
- A high level of tolerance and patience
- A belief that children have the capacity to change regardless of their circumstances or behaviors
- Able to collaborate with interdisciplinary team
- Willingness to work overnight
- Understanding and appreciation of the roles of race, religion, ethnicity, sexual preference, and individual values as they relate to servicing clients and families.
JOB LOCATION: Brooklyn/Queens – 20 minutes from NYC
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
