The Highline Public Schools Human Resources Department is seeking a Secondary Peer Mentor to join their team of educators for the 2023-2024 school year!

SUMMARY: The Central Office Specialist is an accomplished teacher who serves in a leadership role at the system level. A specialist provides expert consultation through facilitating collaboration, instructional coaching, and serving as a system leader across a variety of roles. The Central Office Specialist sees their ongoing learning and development as essential to achieve equitable results for all students.
Peer Mentors serve the district’s early career teachers as they advance in the profession from induction through advanced certification. The twin goals of the program are to improve student learning in the beginning teacher’s classroom and to increase retention of early career teachers.
A peer mentor is a skilled advocate around equity-driven practices and processed. They are a master teacher who nurtures professional growth and excellence by consulting, collaborating, and coaching. They provide expert consultation to district and school leaders on the induction and professional certification processes; they collaborate with an extended network of school-based mentors in support of early career teachers; and they coach others in process skills (observation, reflection, professional growth planning,) as well as content-based instructional skills needed for early career success and advancement in the teaching profession.
