Patrol Officer Job at Washington College
The Public Safety Patrol Officer position performs investigative and general patrol duties to ensure building security, personal safety, and protection of property. The Patrol Officer position is a full-time benefits-eligible position. This 40 hour per week position is paid at $16.00 per hour for qualified candidates with relevant experience. There may be the opportunity for overtime. Work may include nights, weekends, and holidays. Essential Functions:
- Patrol campus facilities and grounds to observe and ensure the safety and security of persons, buildings, and property
- Investigate crimes and other complaints by obtaining all initial data through personal questioning of complainants, witnesses, and others and/or by examining the area where the incident occurred
- Handle complaints in person or by phone, receive and dispose of lost and found articles, monitor alarm systems, and radio dispatch and maintain continuous communications with all Public Safety members on patrol
- Respond to fire alarms to assist with locating the source of alarm, evacuating the building when necessary, and resetting of alarm system
- Administer first aid, coordinate emergency response, and provide initial support to victims in traumatic situations
- Collaborate with the Chestertown Police Department and other law enforcement agencies with regard to investigations relating to college matters
Qualifications (Education, Skills and Experience):
High school diploma or GED required. Completion of courses in law enforcement or security officer training preferred. Previous experience in security work or similar exposure to the public is desirable. Must possess a first-aid certificate or readiness to undergo first- aid training on the job and a valid motor vehicle operator’s license. Proven ability to work in potential crisis situations. Computer skills desirable.
