La Clinica is seeking a Patient Services Representative to be part of our fast-paced, integrated dental team. The Patient Services Representative is an important part of the team and works closely with the patients, dental assistants, dentists, hygienists, and other team members.

Responsibilities include the following:
- Greets patients as welcomed guests to our office, following office guidelines for efficient check-in.
- Interviews patient to obtain and record name, address, age, income, persons to notify in case of emergency, attending Physician, and individual or insurance company responsible for payment of the bill, when needed.
- Contacts insurance company to verify patient coverage and obtain information concerning the extent of benefits when needed.
- Enters patient information into the computer and notifies the back office when the patient is ready when needed.
- Coordinates and reviews dental clinic schedules with appropriate staff.
- Refers patients' questions regarding statements and insurance coverage to cashier/billing dept.
- Answers and screens incoming calls. Takes messages and transfers them to voice mail. Identifies direct dial numbers when appropriate to better route future calls.
- Will assist in scheduling all office appointments according to office guidelines. Confirms appointments for the next day and reschedules appointments when necessary.
- Monitors and follows up on no-shows and cancellations.
- Explains clinic regulations such as hours, payment of accounts, and schedule of charges.
- Collects payments from patients on the day of the visit and provides patients with receipts. Refer to Cashier/billing patients in need of negotiating payment arrangements and complete all necessary ICD-9 and CPT coding for posting transactions.
- Will refer all uninsured patients to the OHP Outreach office for assistance with the OHP application.
- Builds and prepares new patient charts for site location.
- Maintain correct insurance information in accounts to ensure that billing information is current
- Responsible for explaining clinic regulations such as; documentation necessary to provide discounts, account balances, payment expectations, and answering questions regarding statements, financial sheets, and insurance coverage.
- Responsible to prepare a report for collections ahead of time for next-day services.
- Collection counseling with patients, including collection calls and following up with collection letters.
- Monitor accounts in the collection process for payments and/or payment plans.
- Manage delinquent accounts by collection polices.
- Collects payments and copayments from patients on the day of the visit, negotiating arrangements as needed and providing a receipt.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience: * Minimum: High School Diploma
- One-year experience working in the Medical / Dental Office with billing or collection experience.
- Excellent interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills
- Skills to intervene and promote reconciliation, compromise, and positive outcomes in difficult interactions
- Skilled at using electronic health records as applicable to the area of work (EPIC, EagleSoft)
- Bilingual in English and SpanishPreferred:
- BLS HealthCare Provider certification
- Basic knowledge of adult learning models
