Overview of Position: Responsible for oversight of collecting data for uninsured and new insured patient benefits and entering into system.

Qualifications: High School Diploma or Equivalent; Associates Degree in Business, Health Care Administration, or similar focus is preferred.

Knowledge/Skills: Good oral and written communication skills, computer skills, knowledgeable of insurance industry. Good communication skills and ability to multi-task.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Responsible for oversight of collecting data for new insured patient benefits and entering into system
  • Responsible for oversight of collecting data for new uninsured patient and entering into system
  • Process all uninsured patients through a Quickcheck with SC Thrive
  • Help qualify uninsured patients with proper documents for Sliding Fee Scale Discount program
  • Sends alerts to Patient Account Representative(s) and Patient Care Advocates to assure patient is aware of eligible benefits from their insurance policy.
  • Navigate uninsured patients through the Affordable Care Act insurances during open enrollment
  • Responsible for input of critical insurance information into practice management system including but not limited to: insurance payer, co-pay, deductible, referral specifics, and non-covered services.
  • Reviews patient appointments identifying well visits/physicals, workers comp and liability types. Researches eligibility for appointment under type. Contacts patient when necessary. Set alerts when appropriate.
  • Responsible to assist all clinical and in-take support staff regarding patient eligibility issues.
  • Works with Care Coordinators, Case Managers, HOP Coordinator and other clinical support staff for continuity of care and coordination of benefits.
  • Coordinates with other HopeHealth managers to resolve issues related to patient insurance status.
  • Assists with other tasks that are assigned.

Physical Requirements: Hearing: Adequate to perform job duties in person and over the telephone. Speaking: Must be able to communicate clearly to patients in person and over the telephone. Vision: Visual acuity adequately to perform job duties, including reading information from printed sources and computer screens. Other: Requires occasional lifting and carrying items weighing up to 10 pounds unassisted in normal daily activities and up to 30 lbs. for other required work activities. Additionally, requires frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements (especially if keyboarding and writing), standing, walking, squatting, and sitting, with some lifting, pushing and pulling exerted regularly throughout a regular work shift.
