We are currently seeking a Production Supervisor – 1st Shift to join our Packing House team as a crucial link in the food supply chain.

The Production Supervisor must thrive in a fast-paced environment, be adept at juggling multiple priorities, and have experience managing and motivating a team. They will play a pivotal role by managing daily production operations to ensure our quality standards are met on every outbound order while remaining within the allocated budget and supervising Packing House employees. The Production Supervisor will also act as the primary point of contact for the team during their shift.

ABOUT THE JOB

This is a full-time position. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 6am to 2pm. Directs and schedules all activities of all employees, including appropriate labor required based on business volume.

• Ensures that all products leaving the packing room are top quality condition and properly identified via QC & label compliance. Manages and maintains labeling compliance according to product safety policy.
• Coordinates with all Supervisors, Sanitation and Safety Coordinator to enforce staff adherence to operational and food safety policies. Ensures all health and safety regulations are met. Including preventative measures and corrective action.
• Communicates with Managers and Supervisors to retrieve any late arriving product or supplies.
• Ensures items repacked for everyday sales are completed on time. Oversees the production of special-order packing for John Vena, Inc.
• Participates in creation and maintenance of product traceability code numbers.
• Designs packing processes, packing lines and determines needed equipment.
• Establish standardized work and ensure the team executes each run to the goals.
• Investigates various ways to improve packing techniques and packaging material selection.
• Suggests packaging requirements for proposed new products and manages product testing. Provides insight and feedback to the Production Manager to improve packing techniques and packaging material.
• Assists in the Inventory and purchasing of packaging supplies within assigned budget. Maintains proper on-hand inventory of all supplies.
• Participates in all recruitment, retention, and performance management of department staff. (Ex. Performance reviews, progressive discipline, interview process, etc.).
• Conducts studies to determine cost of goods including, but not limited to, supplies and labor. Maintains data in the appropriate database
• Ensures packing and material handling equipment is properly maintained and safe.
• Ensures KPIs and Departmental financial goals are achieved and tracks departmental metrics.
• Performs all tasks and duties in an efficient and safe manner.
• Performs other related duties as assigned or as necessary. Remains flexible and adaptable in work schedules and work assignments as defined by departmental and organizational needs.
• Represents John Vena, Inc. in a manner that conveys professionalism, confidentiality, courtesy, fairness, personal integrity, and respect for others.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, or equivalent, required
• Three (3) to five (5) years of production experience in packaging of produce or a perishable food product environment, required.
