The Ordering and Inventory Clerk will be responsible for complete shipping/receiving tasks in and out of the production area as well as assisting with inventory control. This position will assist with the purchasing of materials, services and supplies, etc. for production and support functions within the manufacturing facility with the objective to limit costs and increase profitability. The Ordering and Inventory Clerk will perform duties related to the receiving and shipping of product and materials including all related packing/unpacking as well as verifying quality and quantity of all items shipped. Work closely and act as back up for the Supply Chain Lead to facilitate the movement, tracking, storage, and processing of inventory.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Per the established production schedule, ensure the direct and indirect materials required to support production (and the facility in general) arrive on-time, on-quantity, and on-quality.
  • Working with production, develops materials forecasts (quantities and financial) as required based on production needs, anticipating conflicts/issues and resolving shortages to ensure production plans supporting customer orders can be efficiently met
  • Balances the competing aspects of materials inventory levels, lead-times, prices, quality, and other terms to achieve the right balance to support production and reach overall site objectives.

Site Logistic and Warehouse function:

  • Coordinates inbound and outbound material shipments for on-time and cost-effective deliveries
  • Trains other personnel as required in basics of day-to-day logistic implementations
  • Leads Inventory Count programs as required, and reports results to finance
  • Works between production warehouse function and finance to ensure accurate systems for receiving and invoice matching on purchased goods, and recommends changes to streamline these business processes.

Perform duties related to receiving and shipping merchandise, with respect to all product and materials incoming and/or outgoing, and to:

  • Understand, and follow, all safety instructions and practices
  • Assist with continual quality monitoring of products and take corrective actions as required and instructed.
  • Receive and distribute materials after first inspecting and determining the quantity and quality meets expectations. Make necessary verifications against required documentation.
  • Organize and prepare product for shipment according to the predetermined schedule as set by management. Work with Team Leads and Production Manager to ensure shipments are timely and exact.
  • Communicate with others (on team, across shift changes, and to other departments) as instructed, for successful completion of assigned work.

Supply Chain Status

  • Helps to maintain ERP system in regards to materials, inventory quantities, and purchase orders.
  • Maintains Kanban System for production and support materials for operations within the site. Updates regularly to ensure information is always current.

Outsourced Product Line

  • Manages orders to be outsourced via PO with approved supply base.
  • Ensures documentation packages are complete and transmitted to selected supplier.

Supply Chain Support

  • Assists Supply Chain Lead with supplier performance system, gathering data on key supplier metrics.
  • Assist Supply Chain Lead to develop the supply chain to help facilitate discussions with customers and production on meeting their objectives. Makes SMART recommendations on improving effectiveness of overall supplies chains from sub-suppliers through to customers, including meeting changing market conditions, new business opportunities, and cost reduction strategies.
  • As needed to support business initiatives, identifies new suppliers for both existing needs and development business opportunities. Assists with qualification efforts, drawing resources from quality and engineering as required.

Back up as Site Security (after MRPT cleared)

  • Manage updated list of employees determining which level of MRPT clearance they have
  • Audit and maintain current employees with access to secure areas and access to the plant itself
  • Ensure that all visitors that enter the facility are following visitor procedures
  • Assist with maintaining and updating security procedures
  • Review and understand the Security Manual
  • MRPT Liaison

Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Possess strong English language skills and be able to:

  • Read, analyze, and interpret (with some minor technical assistance if required) product specifications, requirements, and technical data sheets.
  • Write, and/or assist in writing, supplier reports and business correspondence (email, letters, reports, etc)
  • Effectively, efficiently and professionally communicate with internal team and external supply base to ensure out/their needs are understood correctly, and discuss any issues/concerns that may occur in ensuring materials needed to support production are delivered properly to the site.
  • Be able to interface with coworkers on issues or concerns, and be able to respond to questions posed from others in the organization.
  • Reasoning Ability: Be able to help define problems, collect data and facts, and make strong, logical conclusions. Be able to help anticipate, based on knowledge and experience, problems before they impact operations, and importantly, customers, and help define/recommend, and implement preventative solutions.
  • Possess the ability to curiously pursue alternative solutions to positively impact cost-savings/reductions initiatives by thoughtfully seeking out and fostering positive relationships with vendors and suppliers to negotiate price reductions and/or additional savings contracts.
  • Possess process-oriented mindset
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Ability to follow company policies and procedures.
  • Must comply and satisfactorily pass pre-employment background and drug screening.
  • Ability to complete and be granted/maintain a US Department of State MRPT clearance as a condition of employment as described in our employee handbook
  • A preliminary and interim security background check must be passed before employment begins and the full MRPT application completed up on starting employment. All offers of employment are conditional based upon successful completion, approval, and maintenance of this clearance.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Education and/or Experience

Associate’s Degree and 2+ years of experience with shipment fulfilment in manufacturing environment OR a combination of education and related working experience from with comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • 2-4 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with RFID electronics manufacturing
  • Previous experience with purchasing/inventory

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

While performing duties of this job, the employee is predominately functioning in a sedentary light office position with high frequency of keyboarding, and computer use. Must be able to lift 25 pounds and up to 75 pounds at times, following proper lifting protocol.

Pay: $21.00 - $26.00 per hour
