Optical Sales Support Specialist Job at The Walman Optical Company
Our Ophthalmic Division is currently seeking a Optical Sales Support Specialist with optical industry background. This is an excellent opportunity for you to join our team! We are located close to downtown Minneapolis, with free parking available!
Starting wage - $22/hour (Can increase based on experience)
Job Summary
Provide help desk and operational support to our Ophthalmic Division Customers and Branches on Industrial Safety Eyewear products and services. Answer technical questions and make quotations on standard items, write/prepare for order/entry, and relay pertinent information to customers. Coordinate with other departments in handling purchase orders and providing service to customers. Work with Marketing and IS personnel to develop and maintain tools and programs to accommodate specific information for prescription safety eyewear sales.
Position Specifics:
- Provide product education, training and customer service as required. Compile divisional goals and report as required.
- Maintain the Safety Sales Support Share Point layout and content.
- Work with telesales team to generate and maintain business relationships and secure orders from potential and existing customers in unassigned territories.
- Attend state and local safety shows and health fairs with Field Representatives to support and reinforce our targeted marketing message.
- Attend onsite fitting clinics with Field Representatives and Dispensing Opticians to support and reinforce our safety eyewear programs, value-added service and billing capabilities.
- Establish dispensing locations or onsite dispensers for existing employer accounts in unassigned territories. Coordinate sample display products with Eye Care Professionals.
- Make soft collection calls to past due customers. Make billing-error calls to appropriate Branch for correction.
- Coordinate submission of dispensing fee reimbursements from branches or customers to Accounts Payable. Perform monthly audits of assigned accounts to validate a credit balance and coordinate a payment to offset.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience/Qualifications
Post-secondary degree or certificate in IS or Business Management, 5 years of optical related work experience, ABOC, and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Basic level accounting and advanced level lab management system experience preferred as well as the following:
- Knowledge of ophthalmic prescription lenses, particularly PAL s and lens materials.
- Knowledge of ANSI Z87.1 Standards and OSHA Requirements for Prescription Safety Eyewear; including how these regulations relate to employers and Walman Safety Eyewear packages and promotions.
- Professional Skills: superior customer service, superior verbal and written communication, business analysis, critical problem solving, project management, organization, prioritizing and attention to detail required.
- Technical Skills Required: Advanced level proficiency in utilizing Microsoft Office tools such as Word and Excel; basic proficiency in JD Edwards or a similar ERP system; strong proficiency in Digital Vision Inc. (DVI) lab management system preferred, strong general lab management system skills required.
