Operating Engineer II, 1st Shift Job at Children's Mercy KC

This is a First Shift, full time role at our Overland Park, KS campus. The Operating Engineer II is responsible for carrying out the direction of the department director to provide a safe and comfortable atmosphere for all patients, parents, visitors, and employees of the hospital. The Operator II assists the Operating Engineer III in the operation, inspection, preventive maintenance, and repair of all fixed and non-fixed non-patient equipment, medical gas systems, and HVAC systems in the hospital. The Operator II is responsible for carrying out continuous quality improvement efforts. The Operator II assists in developing new procedures, work practices, and data collection, to comply with all City, State, Federal, OSHA, NFPA, and JCAHO codes/requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Effectively and efficiently operate and maintain all equipment and systems for which the Engineering Department is responsible.
  • Performs all work to ensure all City, State, Federal, OSHA, NFPA, and JCAHO codes and requirements are met or exceeded.
  • Effectively evaluate building needs and take steps to efficiently use energy sources to maximize efficiency and minimize costs.

Qualifications:

  • HS diploma or equivalent and 1-2 years experience 9-12 Hours of HVAC Related Classes
  • EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification Required Upon Hire

This position is not eligible work remotely, which means that the person hired will be required to work onsite at one of our Children’s Mercy locations and may not work from home.
