Emergency Department Nurse Practitioner position at Coalinga Regional Medical Center (Coalinga, California). Salaried 80 hours per pay period (6 x 12 hour + 1 x 8 hour shifts) DAYS 7a-7p.

Job Description:
The Emergency Department nurse practitioner focuses on triaging all patients who present to the Emergency Department and providing definitive care with collaborating physician. Coalinga Regional Medical Center Emergency Department typically sees 25-40 patients per 24 hour shift (15-25 during the day shift). The NP will utilize a holistic approach to patient care with emphasis on health promotion & patient education/counseling as well as supporting direct care staff through education and mentorship with the shared goal of providing exceptional patient care to a mixed population of adult and pediatric patients at this Central Valley Critical Access Hospital.
Specific Tasks include
- Interviews patients and/or family to obtain medical histories and to make an accurate assessment for patients of all ages who present to the Emergency Department.
- Assigns a triage priority based on observations and available information.
- Orders appropriate diagnostic studies and correctly interprets the results.
- Initiates Therapeutic treatments as appropriate
- Collaborates with attending Emergency Department Physician to provide definitive care when approriate or refer higher level visits directly to physician for management
- Demonstrates knowledge of etiologies, risk factors, pathophysiology, presentation and epidemiology of medical conditions.
- Performs history and physical assessments of patients that are accurate, complete, concise, relevant and appropriate for age,gender and clinical problem.
- Utilizes critical thinking to synthesize and analyze collected data.
- Develops, implements, evaluates and alters the plan of care as needed.
- Manages general medical conditions based on knowledge of the indications, contraindications, side effects, interactionsand adverse reactions of pharmacologic agents and other relevant treatment modalities.
- Counsels and educates patients and families.
- Demonstrates proficiency in procedural skills pertinent to Emergency Department.
- Maintains accurate, complete, concise and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
- Provides care that is patient and family centered, compassionate, appropriate and effective for the promotion of health, prevention of illness and treatment of disease throughout the lifespan.
- Facilitates consistent, coordinated care and clear communication among all members of the healthcare team.
- Serves as an advocate for patients and families in navigating the health care system.
- Must be ACLS and PALS certified prior to first shift

Salary: $145,600-$162,240/year (equivalent to $70-78/hour) DOE; salaried exempt
