Job Title: North River CommUNITY Schools Manager

Area of Responsibility: North River Learning CommUNITY Schools

Reports to: Directly Responsible to Chief Education Officer

Summary: The North River CommUNITY Schools Manager will execute the vision for and oversee all activities of the CommUNITY School work for the North River Learning Community. The CommUNITY Schools Manager will ensure the application of national community school best practices from a whole child approach. This person will work closely with the NNH, the North River Community Superintendent, school administrators, and key stakeholders to plan services and evaluate successes. A successful candidate will have demonstrated success in team building and leadership as well as developing positive and supportive relationships with students and their families, identifying community resources, and supervising relevant programming and reporting outcomes. This includes after school programs and its hiring, training and supervision of staff.

Hours/Schedule: 40 hrs/week Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Some varying hours may occur due to program needs.

Details: 40 hours Full-time exempt salary employee; Position includes PTO, Holiday Pay, 85% paid health insurance, dental insurance, EAP, life and long term disability in addition to 3% retirement match after employee is vested (waiting period does apply).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
∙ Implement and maintain site systems to support full-service community schools. Assures the functioning of all community school core components are effectively linked to programs and fulfill the basic principles of community schools.
∙ Continuously review and revise the programs provided by the Northside Neighborhood House with the Chief Education Officer, monitoring effectiveness of CS programs; plan and suggest modifications to programming as needed.
∙ Responsible for direct oversight and support of CS Coordinators in that learning community to increase educational opportunities and social connections for children, families and neighborhood residents.
∙ Ensures as well that all staff will be trained appropriately and that a comprehensive program to enlist, train and maximize the use of volunteers within programming occurs.
∙ Support CS Coordinators in developing effective collaborations with partner organizations.
∙ Attends day-to-day issues regarding programming, specifically supporting afterschool spaces when staffing shortages occur.
∙ Supports Chief Education Officer in working on strategic initiatives including research and implementation related to overall CS work.
∙ Assume additional responsibilities when requested by the Leadership Team in order to maintain the highest standard of operation of Northside Neighborhood House.

Qualification Requirements:
∙ Personal belief in NNH’s mission, goals and objectives
∙ Has knowledge of the community school model.
∙ Understands the importance of the whole child approach to learning.
∙ Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships across all CS stakeholder groups.
∙ Demonstrated leadership and the ability to successfully manage multiple employees and projects.
∙ Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills with both teens and adults.
∙ Professional, organized, thorough and gives attention to details.
∙ Creative and takes initiative with new ideas.
∙ Able to follow instruction, be self-reflective and accept feedback.
∙ Knowledgeable about and follows ethical practices in a social service context, especially confidentiality.
∙ Able to be flexible with work hours.

Education and/or Expertise:
∙ M.S. Degree preferred in Education, Human Services, Non-Profit Management or similar degree.
∙ Two or more years in the public school system is preferred.
∙ Four or more years in a similar job or better with less than required formal education.
∙ Experience supervising multiple employees and leading teams.
∙ Requires sitting, standing, bending and reaching. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines such as computers, fax machines, calculators, the telephone and other office equipment. Requires hearing and vision necessary to perform the essential functions of this position.
∙ Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
