The Virginia Department for the Blind and Vision Impaired is seeking a Norfolk Servmart Assistant Supervisor to be responsible for the implementation of the goals and objectives of VIB by leading the day-to-day operations of the Norfolk ServMart team. This position is responsible for supervision, staffing, procurement, receiving, stocking, inventory management, merchandising, transactional purchases, and overall operational efficiency of the location. This is a subcontracted, commercial contract position.

This is a warehouse store in federal/military installation. Our stores sell bulk supplies and other commercial items to customers.

Minimum Qualifications
High School certificate or equivalent. Supervisory, retail operations, and customer service experience.

Knowledge of supervisory or managerial experience with two or more employees; general warehousing and or retail experience; and experienced with Point of Sale Systems.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Ability to operate a personal computer with or without accommodations; to listen and respond to customer service request while maintaining accurate records; to lift and carry 30 to 50 pounds; to bend and lift in a repetitive manner throughout the workday; good manual dexterity; and to stand six to eight hours; to perform duties independently without direct supervision.

Ability to function in a fast paced, sometimes high-pressure environment; to work in a team environment; strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication; critical thinking skills to be able to use logic and reason to identify alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems; effective time management skills with the ability to prioritize competing business needs and independent decision making experience.

Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training and retail experience working in a military or Federal Government environment.

Special Requirements
Must pass Navy Security Clearance.

2-4 weeks for the security clearance processing time. However, if you cannot pass that check or lose the right to enter the base (a DUI or a misdemeanor offense may cause this). You will not be eligible to work there any longer.
