POSITION DETAILS
The College of Staten Island (CSI) is a City University of New York (CUNY) senior College organized around two academic divisions and three schools, with over 10,000 students. CSI offers a broad range of academic programs in the liberal arts and sciences, and in several professional areas. The College awards associate's, bachelor's, master's and clinical doctoral degrees, and in collaboration with The CUNY Graduate Center, numerous Ph.D. degrees. Reporting to the Assistant Director for Orientation, the New Student Programs Coordinator is responsible for the following:

Provides administrative and program development support for new student orientation programs. This includes assistance with the planning, coordination and implementation of all orientation programs for incoming students, and the overall recruitment, outreach, and selection of New Student Orientation Leaders and Mentors

Serve as the program coordinator of the New Student Mentoring Program and manage the daily operations of the program including program recruitment and marketing, mentor-mentee pairings, program outreach, and program assessment

Manage and develop New Student Mentors to work with prospective, newly admitted and first-year students enrolled in the mentoring program by providing a high level of student service that aids new students’ transition to college within their first semester; Assist New Student Mentors in brainstorming, developing, and facilitating their own unique workshops centered around new students transitional issues for the New Student Mentor Workshop Series

Coordinate the student mentoring schedule including: office schedule, workshop schedule, special events, monthly mentor meetings, and peer-to-peer mentor appointments

Manage an assigned geographical recruitment territory and serve as a primary contact and enrollment advisor for college advisors (high school guidance counselors), prospective students, applicants and newly admitted students. Recruits at high schools, community organizations and other locations during regular business hours, evenings and weekends as assigned

Serves as a recruitment liaison to assigned academic and administrative departments at the College

Coordinates and assists with event planning for on-campus recruitment events, including group visits, conferences, information sessions and conversion events; Coordinates the student led campus tour program for visitors and special groups

Assist in the coordination of services and student engagement activities to guide students through the enrollment process and college transition. This includes helping to coordinate with the CUNY College & Career Bridge for All program to help train CUNY coaches on the CSI enrollment process
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree required.

Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills as well as strong multitasking skills

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint)

Coordinates workshops, intake screenings, interviews and orientations for new students

Counsels prospective applicants on requirements and standards and provides general information on programs and services in person or by telephone, e-mail or letter; conducts follow up as needed

Assists in conducting open house sessions and orientations, including group sessions and programs at high schools and in the community at large

Assists with day-to-day administration and an admissions or enrollment office, including scheduling and preparing and distributing materials

Represents the Admission Office to the college's internal and external communities as directed

Maintains and updates program databases, lists and files to ensure completeness and accuracy

Performs related duties as assigned.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
$44,441 - $62,689
Salary commensurate with education and experience.

City of New York employees hired on or after October 1, 2022, and their eligible dependents, will only be eligible to enroll in the Emblem Health HIP HMO Preferred Plan, and must remain in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan for the first year (365 days) of employment.
After 365 days of employment, the employee will have the option of either remaining in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan or selecting a different health plan within 30 days before the end of the 365-day period. If a new health plan is selected, the new plan will be effective on the 366th day.
Only after the 365th day can the employee participate in any Annual Fall Transfer Period.
