POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the VP of QHSE, the Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for maintaining and performing quality testing of production product. The Quality Assurance Technician also performs the administrative and record keeping functions required by the Perma-Pipe ISO:9001 Quality Management System (QMS), other Quality Assurance Manuals, and supporting procedures.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Conduct product sampling, testing and reporting in accordance with project requirements and Company procedures
• Maintain the property and assets of the QA Department, including capital equipment, laboratory facilities, testing assets, IT equipment, and NDE equipment
• Plans and budgets for QA property and asset repair, preventive and corrective maintenance, calibration, replacement or upgrade, and training of operators
• Assist in preparation of new / modified testing procedures
• Conduct internal procedure audits on each departmental functions (including off-site work crews)
• Maintain, at site level, ISO 9001 Quality Management System (QMS)
• Supervise the Non-Conforming material procedures. Assure all materials are identified and segregated when required by procedure. Prepare NC reports and seek the proper disposition of NC material by management and engineering
• Primary contact for customer / independent inspectors
  • Provide demonstration / explanation of Perma-Pipe testing procedures to inspectors
• Performs other duties/ projects as assigned or as required by the position.

This position interacts with all levels of the organization. Reports to VP of QHSE

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION:

• Two-year technical degree is preferred

EXPERIENCE:

• Four years experience in Quality Assurance activities is preferred
• Experience of testing, instruments, gauges, and special equipment used in the polymer insulation and / or coatings testing industry is preferred.
• Proficiency in MS Office applications

QUALIFICATION/ REQUIREMENT:

• Excellent time management, organization and prioritization skills, be detailed orientated
• Able to multi-task
• Able to work effectively in groups and individually,
• Able to work effectively with both internal and customer senior managers / shop floor personnel
• Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Have strong analytical and problem solving skills

• SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITES: None

• TRAVEL:
• This position requires the ability to work overtime, including 12 hour day and night shifts.
• Travel within Louisiana / Texas and Alabama is expected infrequently (20%).
• EQUIPMENT TO BE USED:
• Must be able to operate computer and other office machines
• Instruments, gauges, and special equipment used in the polymer insulation and / or coatings testing industry

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

• Able to sit for long periods of time
• with good hand / finger dexterity for typing / data entry
• Requires some degree of activity and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching and carrying of portable tools / equipment
• Able to bend and lift and/or move items up to 25 pounds, as needed

MENTAL DEMANDS:

• Must handle diverse work problems on a daily basis.
• Must be able to resolve problems, handle conflict and make effective decisions under pressure.
• Must relate and interact with people at all levels in the Company.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Works in a typical office setting
• This position maybe required to work overtime on an as needed basis

• The employee could occasionally be exposed to extreme temperatures, fumes, or airborne particles.
• The worker is subject to proximity to moving mechanical parts, and moving vehicles.
• Will be working outside and in warehouse environment.
