Essential Job Functions:
Under the direction of the Manager of Technology Service Operation, the position’s influence is District-wide. It may affect every school/department and every student/employee through effective networking operations accomplished through project planning and execution, design, and implementation of networking equipment and management systems configurations. Position will administrate and coordinate networking system projects, working with appropriate end-user project managers (department managers, curriculum coordinators, etc.); provide project technical input, project guidance, planning, and management for systems implementation; administrate all District wired and wireless networking equipment; administer, coordinate or perform networking system hardware or software upgrades including routine maintenance upgrades and ensure functionality at all times; research, evaluate, and recommend appropriate networking technologies that support District and Department goals; deploy and manage District routers, data switches, and wireless Local Area Network (LAN)/Wide Area Network (WAN) infrastructure; assist in planning and implementation of major networking equipment and services projects; respond to activities involving after-hour LAN/WAN or Wireless network system outages and emergencies requiring networking system support; assist in maintaining VOIP infrastructure; ensure data security and privacy best practices are maintained in server and network infrastructures; assist with Firewall changes; respond to alerts after hours and on weekends and perform other duties as assigned.
