Lyons Magnus is seeking a Full-time - Microbiologist for its Beloit, WI Facility. This position is a Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm schedule with weekends depending on departmental needs.

Overview of Position:

A member of the Technical Services department, a food service division at Lyons Magnus, an international food and beverage manufacturer headquartered in Fresno, California. This position is responsible for support in the areas of quality assurance and related activities in a manner that supports the operations of production of the organization at the Beloit, WI plant.

Description:

• Performs microbiological testing of process and product representative samples according to current and approved methods in an accurate manner.
• Makes sure all testing records, certificates, materials and products disposition are accurate and up to date for ease in analysis of the concerned.
• Conduct internal audits such as Glass and Brittle Plastic and Warehouse GMP Audit.
• Leads the Environmental Monitoring Program (EMP). Initiate and document corrective actions as needed.
• Accountability for the product retention and product incubation programs.
• Participates in process variance investigation as well as in productivity and quality improvement projects together with colleagues in other departments.
• Assist with customer complaint investigations.
• Provide reporting of monitoring audit results.
• Ensures the reliability, functionality and on time calibration of the micro lab equipment
• Author, maintain and train against micro lab SOPs.
• Assist with designing and conducting challenge studies and special projects as needed.
• Practices GLP, laboratory safety and housekeeping procedures in accordance with food safety and quality policies
• Follow Good Manufacturing Practices
• Basic laboratory skills to include aseptic technique, media preparation, plating, dilutions, pipetting and swabbing.

Education and/or Experience:

• Bachelors degree in Microbiology or a related course with specialty in Microbiology (Preferred)
• Relevant experience of at least 5 years total in a specialty or food manufacturing micro-laboratory.
• Basic laboratory skills to include aseptic technique, media preparation, plating, dilutions, pipetting and swabbing.
• Basic computer skills required.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
