Primary Duties

  • Follows physician through his or her workday and charts patient encounters in real-time using medical office's Electronic Health Record and existing templates.
  • Generate referral letters for physicians, manage and sort medical documents within the EHR system.
  • May handle data management tasks for physicians in real-time,
  • Applies knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology to the transcription of proofreading of medical dictation from originators.
  • Transcribes physician dictation to include notes, letters, history and physical reports, hospital dismissal/interval notes, sign-out lists, and other physician correspondence or typing as requested.
  • Clarifies dictation that is unclear or incomplete, seeking assistance as necessary

Work Conditions/Hours

Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4:30pm; However, schedules may vary in accordance with business necessity. Normal office working conditions.

Qualifications


Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Completion of a Medical Terminology course
  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting
  • Experience with practice management software and electronic health record applications
  • Applicants must be able to type at least 60-70 wpm

Preferred

  • Two years of experience as a CNA or Medical Assistant
  • Knowledge of hematology/oncology terminology
