MINIMUM POSITION SPECIFICATIONS

Two year technical certification or four year engineering degree preferred. Minimum two years’ experience using SolidWorks to design components and simple machines. Must have working knowledge of all machine shop equipment and ability to read and interpret blueprints, tolerances and measurements. Proven knowledge of typical industry pneumatic actuators and have experience defining building materials suitable for the application. Must be capable of delivering 3D models of equipment and 2D engineering drawings that can be used to build working components and machines.

FUNCTIONAL SCOPE

The successful candidate will be part of a project team that develops customized automation and machine concepts for the purpose of manufacturing automotive parts. Candidate must be capable of taking a design concept and creating 3D models in Solidworks of equipment and tools. The Designer will submit CAD models for approval to V.P. Automation, Digitalization, and Smart Plant. The designer will work with Siemens Process Simulate software to create 3D manufacturing simulations of automated production cells.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Works with project team to develop innovative concepts for assembly equipment and end of arm tooling

· Create 3D Models of equipment using SolidWorks

· Assist with the quotation and technical review with suppliers fabricating components and machines

· Communicates and resolves technical specification issues

· Communicates with Controls Engineer to ensure sequence of operation and detection using switches and sensors is incorporated into designs

· Must train and be capable of using Siemens Process Simulate software for the purpose of creating 3D process simulation of robot production lines.

· Assist with assembly or troubleshooting of equipment designed by the team.
