GENERAL PURPOSE
This is a part time position, usually working 32 – 36 hours per week.
Performs a variety of clerical and technical work in assisting the Marketing & Communications Director.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Works under the supervision of the Marketing & Communications Director.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
None.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Support all City departments in efforts to proactively share positive stories and accomplishments through citywide communication pieces and web features with a focus on creating connections between daily work and the citys strategic plan.
Develops or assists in the development of communications and marketing materials across multiple platforms to include, but not limited to, interactive, mass, target, and broadcast media, special events, and trade shows.
Responsible for enterprising storylines for video and press content, website editing, feature story writing and reporting internally and externally on City Commission decisions and progress
Responsible for production of informational pieces that support communications and marketing efforts. These may include, but are not limited to, newsletters, websites, email, print, social media, video and other collateral material. Video production skills preferred but not required
Develops or assists in the development of communications and marketing plans to support both short- and long-range organizational objectives.
Develops or assists in the monitoring, maintenance, and measurement of progress toward communications and marketing objectives
Supports organizational initiatives and events, as needed.
Performs set-up and tear-down at special events and trade shows.
Assists with, obtains or designs and implements market research.
PERIPHERAL DUTIES
Performs other related duties as assigned.
DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
- An Associate in Arts Degree from an accredited college or university or a student with major course work in Communications, English, Marketing, Public Relations, Advertising, Journalism, Video Productions or related field and;
- One (1) year experience in communications, marketing, public relations, advertising or journalism.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Excellent writing skills- Knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures of communications and marketing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with, employees, supervisors, and the general public, the news media, and elected official under routine and non-emergency conditions
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Experienced user in Adobe Photoshop. Experience with Adobe Premiere and Adobe After Effects preferred but not required.
A resume reel highlighting your previous work is required. A writing project may be administered in person prior to job offer.
Valid Florida driver's license.
