Job Purpose: The Manufacturing Engineer helps implement manufacturing processes that result in high- quality products. Requires solid knowledge of tool design and fabrication methods. Other necessary manufacturing engineer skills include project management ability, commitment to quality, and familiarity with safety and environmental standards. Ensures our production lines work efficiently and effectively to satisfy our customers.

Essential Job Functions

  • Support problem-solving analysis to find the root cause of problems and apply corrective actions.
  • Participate in continuous improvement and support company initiatives.
  • Plan, implement, and confirm process changes.
  • Provide cost reduction initiatives.
  • Assist and implement equipment in accordance with the budget.
  • Develop and participate on equipment Kanban and commissioning.
  • Participate on TPM implementation.
  • Participate on process and equipment improvements. DOE and Kaizens.
  • Create SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedures) for processes and equipment.
  • Maintain Engineering KPIs and create activity to help support the overall department initiatives.
  • Provide risk analysis for process and equipment implementations.
  • Participate and lead on the launch of new projects, related to equipment, process, and manning.
  • Ability to apply DFM (Design for Manufacturing) to optimize processes.
  • Implement correction actions from process audits such as MRA (Manufacturing Readiness Assessments).
  • Design jigs, tools, and equipment to improve TM ergonomics.
  • Create and update layout plans.
  • Write and prepare RFQ (Request for Quotation) for equipment design and fabrication.
  • Create line balancing, analyze cycle time, and takt time. Make recommendations for line optimization.
  • Work with customer representatives for implementations, initiatives, and studies.
  • Follow and improve FORMA Documentation Standards.
  • Other duties as assigned (hands-on).
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • 2 – 5 years in the automotive industry or related industry.
  • Verbal and written communication skills
  • MS Office, Project, AutoCAD, Solid Works, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma Problem solving.
  • Experience problem solving, PDCA, 5 why’s, 8D’s, and continuous improvement such as Lean Manufacturing.
  • Cycle time studies experience, line balancing (i.e., MOST)
  • Toyota Production System (TPS) – preferred.
  • Capable of managing multiple activities and objectives efficiently.
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative and being proactive.
  • Able to work in a team and with cross functional departments effectively.
  • Ability to detect anomalies in processes and apply correct countermeasures effectively and efficiently.
  • Ability to complete tests, reports and critical activities to support customer demands.
  • Consistent and reliable attendance.
Required Education

Bachelor's degree required; Engineering preferred.

Equivalent work experience can be considered in lieu of education.
