Corebridge Financial Global Legal, Compliance, Regulatory and Government Affairs department is comprised of attorneys and other professionals providing high quality advisory and transactional support with integrity and objectivity across all parts of the organization. About the role
In this challenging and dynamic role, you will have the opportunity to demonstrate your expertise by being responsible for policy form filings in relevant states pertaining to the Institutional Markets businesses. This position will report to the Director, Legal Services, responsible for a host of matters related to the Institutional Markets business of Corebridge Life and Retirement.
  • This position has a broad scope of work in the policy form filing arena. The role is primarily dedicated to: (i) providing policy form preparation and filing and insurance regulatory support for group annuities and certificates related to Corebridge Life and Retirement’s Institutional Markets pension risk transfer (“PRT”) business in the U.S.; and (ii) supporting policy form filings and new product initiatives developed by the Institutional Markets business team for structured settlement annuities, funding agreements, stable value wrap synthetic guaranteed investment contracts and corporate owned/bank owned group life insurance.
  • The position will exercise knowledge of products and filing requirements to prepare filing strategies and estimates, perform research related to such products and filings in order to ensure applicable requirements are being met, forms are drafted in a compliant manner, and all supporting documentation is identified and completed appropriately.
  • This role will have meetings and conference calls with internal and/or external parties such as state Department of Insurance representatives or consultants.
  • Areas of responsibility for this role will include facilitating and participating in regular meetings with Institutional Markets teams to report on projects and discuss project related topics, and perform regular reviews of current and future projects to ensure prioritization aligns with the business need and make adjustments as necessary.
  • The position will ensure work items are routed to the appropriate parties in a timely manner and that deadlines are set and met according to the mandates either given by the state or necessitated by the filing timeline based on business need.
  • Develop and maintain reference materials related to filing requirements, experience, approvals, and other topics as needed to support the business.
Performance Objectives
  • Policy form filing experience related to fixed and variable annuities and life insurance; preferred experience in group annuities, pension risk transfer products, structured settlement annuities, synthetic GICs and funding agreements, but specific experience not necessary in these lines of business.
  • Experience with SERFF / I-File
  • Familiarity with Interstate Insurance Product Regulation Commission (IIPRC)
  • Working knowledge of general policy form filing requirements and instructions related to applicable product lines including state statutes, regulations, bulletins, etc.
  • Communication with regulatory authorities, as necessary.
  • Participate in functional projects as well as cross-functional projects within Corebridge Life and Retirement.
  • Travel will be necessary from time to time.
What you need to know
  • 5+ Experience in the life and annuity industry or at a major law firm supporting life and annuity work and preferably insurance company clients. (Preferred)
  • Experience with policy form filing of annuities and life policies and submissions in SERFF including drafting, editing and filing.
  • Detail-oriented and analytical mind set is a must.
  • Ability to be flexible and manage multiple assignments and deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to find creative solutions on diverse matters requiring complex analysis.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • Strong organizational, time management and project management skills.
  • Must be capable of working independently and/or as part of a team.
  • Knowledgeable about regulatory and risk management functions.
  • Strong reasoning ability and capacity to understand inner workings of other departments
  • Good judgment
  • Must know Microsoft suite of products and be proficient in Outlook, Word, Excel.
  • Must know SharePoint and Adobe Pro.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
