Valero Energy is looking for a Logistics & Loss Control Projects Manager to join our team at the San Antonio Headquarters. The Logistics & Loss Control Projects Manager manages a team that supports logistics and loss control capital project initiatives. The Logistics & Loss Control Projects Manager oversees logistics simulation developer activities and special projects relative to transportation and commercial initiatives. The Logistics & Loss Control Projects Manager is accountable to drive process improvement initiatives across Commercial and Refinery organizations that optimize asset utilization, vessel predictability, and operational efficiencies. The Logistics & Loss Control Projects Manager facilitates relations with industry and marine logistics stakeholders and stewards project initiatives that improve loss control measurement infrastructure.
Logistics & Loss Control Projects Manager duties may include:
- Stewards relationships with Port Commissions, Navigation Districts, US Army Corp of Engineers, industry stakeholders, community / governmental affairs, and Valero refinery/terminal personnel.
- Manages logistics simulation development activities and advocates with stakeholders to initiate projects that alleviate constraints and increase import and export capabilities.
- Champions development of logistics or loss control capital expenditure projects, by leading and facilitating the discovery, analysis and justification considerations in preparation for Design Review Board process.
- Develops the annual logistics and loss control capital expenditure budget relative to the strategic plan.
- Liaisons with internal groups to achieve strategic initiatives to include Refining Operations, Crude Supply & Trading, Product Supply & Trading, Planning & Economics, and Business Development.
- Provides leadership for marine logistics analysis and strategic loss control project initiatives.
- Oversees information sources for Valero’s refinery and terminal logistics attributes that prescribes throughput capabilities, including their capacities, capabilities, limitations and improvement opportunities.
- Negotiates rate change proposals with Marine Pilot Associations
- Provides leadership support for third party terminal dock operations as needed to achieve commercial objectives.
- Works with Valero Refinery and Terminal Operations and Engineering leadership to insure efficient and optimum supply chain logistics
This position is salaried exempt status, which means you are not eligible for overtime pay.
- Bachelor's or higher level degree - in engineering, finance & economics, business or related required.
- 10+ years of experience in the following area(s): Planning & economics, transportation logistics, crude or product supply planning/scheduling required.
- Master’s or higher level degree - in engineering, finance & economics, or business school preferred.
- Experience in the petroleum marine transportation or other logistics/supply chain-related field preferred.
- Knowledge of measurement assurance equipment and technologies preferred.
- Experience working with Port Authorities, Navigation Districts, and US Army Corp of Engineers preferred.
- Must be able to work in a collaborative, on-site work environment, which will include participation in unscheduled discussions and troubleshooting on an as needed basis.
