Job Summary:
The Front of the House (FOH) Manager is responsible for managing and organizing daily restaurant operations with a goal of controlling costs and leading the staff on a day-to-day basis, while also providing a high-quality experience for the guests.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Manage and supervise efficient work schedules of the Front of the House, including assigning shifts, cutting staffs, and services.
- Conduct timely and constructive performance evaluations for FOH employees.
- Mentoring and training of FOH employees to provide best possible guest services with consistency, and quality.
Education and Experience:
- Must have alcohol awareness certification such as TIPS, as required by local or state government agencies.
- At least two years of proven and related experience is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Flexible with schedule, and long hours sometimes required, including working morning, afternoon, nights, holidays, and weekend shifts.
- Ability to be on your feet throughout the entire shift: prolonged periods of standing, bending, stooping, twisting, and walking, including up and down the staircases.
- Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling or otherwise moving objects, products, and supplies up to 30 pounds.
- Must be able to work with hot, cold, and hazardous equipment.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.

- Ability to make appropriate decisions in a fast-paced environment (e.g. assign breaks, cut staff appropriately, etc)
- Must be able to read, write and converse in English.
- Working knowledge of basic information technology, and computer skills, including operating the computers, iPads, phones, fax machines, copiers and other office equipment.
- Be able to operate efficiently on the restaurant's two-way radio transceiver.
- Must work well as a team, including both front of the house and back of the house.
- Responsible, reliable, punctual, and trustworthy.
- Know and be able to complete job-specific duties for the position.
- Must be able to follow instructions, and directions set by the Department Managers.
- Must be able to follow the health, safety, and sanitary practices for food handling, and general cleanliness at all times.
- Must be able to follow company policies and procedures at all times.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Supervise FOH employees, and provide assistance and directions regarding operational, and procedural issues as needed.
- Assist General Manager in recruit and hire for non-management staffing for the FOH operation as needed.
- Assist General Manager in discipline and termination of non-management employees as needed, and in accordance with HR and company policy.
- Train, coach and support FOH employees to ensure the success of the restaurant operations, including bus, host, food run, and room delivery.
- Execution of daily restaurant operations, including daily managers log, and closing sales report.
- Assist and support General Manager with execution of the restaurant established procedures for successful operation, and administrative tasks.
- Ensure proper staffing for FOH and support department managers with proper scheduling in accordance with budget and business needs.
- Ensure and properly perform opening or closing shift procedures, including security procedures to protect employees, guests, and company assets.
- Familiarity with Dunraven’s menu, including all food, beverages and alcoholic selections.
- Familiarity with restaurant management software for POS, reservations, sound systems and timekeeping system, including troubleshooting the systems.
- Adhere to established payment and POS procedures, including performing detailed and accurate cash register matters in all types of payments, and cash handling for opening and closing after each shift with guests and employees.
- Liaise with suppliers and sales representatives, timely order of products, and maintain products inventory for assigned divisions.
- Track and maintain inventory level of restaurant supplies such as serving wares, silverwares, etc., and report to the General Manager for replenishment.
- Complete division assignments and projects assigned by the General Manager accurately, and in a timely manner.
- Coordinate communication between front of the house and back of the house employees.
- Meet and exceed budgeted financial performance (eg. sales projection, labor cost, supply cost, etc) set by the General Manager.
- Coach and support Assistant Managers to ensure the success of the restaurant operations.
- Maintain favorable working relationship with employees, including fostering and promoting cooperative and harmonious working environment
- Ensure positive guest service in all areas, including gathering guests' feedback and responding to complaints promptly and professionally, including electronic correspondence.
- Adhere and ensure sanitary practices for food handling, general cleanliness, and maintenance of the dining areas.
- Adhere and ensure a safe working and guest environment to reduce the risk of injury and accidents; and complete accident or emergency procedures promptly in the event of injuries.
- Adhere and ensure compliance with operational standards, company policies, federal/state/local laws, and ordinance.
- Complete job responsibilities and performance objectives in a timely and effective manner, in accordance with Dunraven policies and procedures.
- Attend scheduled meetings and trainings assigned.
- Keep the General Manager promptly and fully informed of all issues, and take prompt corrective action where necessary.
Other Duties:
- Bus, host and serve food when needed, including room service delivery.
- Assist in setup, and coordination of special events at the restaurant as needed.
- Perform all other duties and responsibilities assigned by at the discretion of management.
