Management Analyst II Job at City of Norfolk, VA
Join the City of Norfolk’s newest department, the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and work with the Chief DEI Officer and internal staff to further advance equity and inclusion throughout the organization. The individual for this role will serves as an internal consultant and facilitator for city departments and staff by helping to incorporate equitable programming and practice into their mission and goals. This individual will support the DEI Office by conducting research, reviewing DEI best practices, providing facilitation, and regularly engaging with city staff, community partners and residents.
- Provide project management and leadership support for the growing Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Office.
- Promotes DEI program and policy information through various communication channels.
- Conducts a variety of research and other assigned projects by compiling and reviewing internal and external organizational information, preparing position and issue papers; and recommending changes.
- Consults with senior departmental managers and provides advice and counsel on developing and implementing equity action goals into City departments.
- Assists management by constructing sensitive documents and correspondence, producing special research reports, serving as liaison on internal and external issues, participating in task forces and special issue meetings and coordinating various projects with a focus on equity and inclusion.
- Works across departments, disciplines and with internal and external partners to drive equity and inclusion efforts through policy recommendations and program development.
- Coordinate, track, and promote DEI initiatives and opportunities happening throughout the city and in local organizations.
- Assist DEI Officer in preparing documents for reports, presentations, forums, workshops, and trainings on current issues and emerging trends in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
- Facilitate DEI trainings for staff and community members.
Work requires broad knowledge in a general professional or technical field. Knowledge is normally acquired through four years of college resulting in a Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
Required:
- Three years experience in data analysis or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience training or implementing DEI initiatives (Through work, school or volunteer experience).
- Academic course work or professional experience in Urban Studies, public administration, Sociology, project management, community development, economic development or diversity, equity and inclusion.

Signing Bonus: This position is eligible for a one-time $5,000 signing bonus for new hires. The signing bonus will be paid in two (2) increments: $2,500 upon completion of 60 days of employment, and $2,500 upon completion of your probationary period. To receive the signing bonus, you must be an active employee in good standing.
