Mainframe Service Lead Job at Pacific Life
Job Description:

We’re actively seeking a talented Mainframe Service Lead to join our Data Center Services in Newport Beach, CA. This role can be on-site, hybrid, or 100% remote.
As Mainframe Service Lead, you’ll play a key role in Pacific Life’s growth and long-term success by managing the company’s Mainframe Application Hosting service, including Mainframe Infrastructure and affiliated supporting software. You’ll manage the vendor relationship and work closely with the divisions to provide mainframe services.
How you will make an impact:
Manage the vendor relationship on the daily basis to ensure optimal operation of the systems and production control environments.
Work closely with the members of the division on day-to-day operational tasks and strategic plans
Assist management with controlling and reducing operational expense budget costs for the Mainframe department
Perform cost and spend analysis to identify cost-effective solutions for existing and future contracts
Solicit feedback from information technology user groups and contracted service providers to assess and communicate internal needs and vendor performance (compliance to contracts, SLAs, and service expectations); act as a contact point for vendors, to answer questions and resolve day-to-day issues
Coordinate vendor management lifecycle activities such as incident management, compliance audits, software licensing, and software/hardware upgrades and maintenance; provide scorecards and necessary information for Vendor Life Cycle Management
Provide support and guidance to the internal staff and contractors/vendors responsible for the daily operations, maintenance, and all related aspects of the mainframe environment including disaster recovery
Provide financial strategy and integration of Sub Capacity licensing for legacy applications; assist in the financial planning of multimillion-dollar IBM and third-party software agreements
Perform risk management and provide alternative solutions to the business (vendor mergers/acquisitions, and vendor software support lifecycles)
Manage upgrades to the infrastructure in a project management role, ensure documentation is complete and accurate keeping all software products and operating systems at current release levels; establish and monitor service level agreements
The experience you will bring:
8+ years of relevant experience in technical and IT teams; effective vendor manager and manager of people and strong team-building skills
Bachelor’s or higher education with a focus on Computer Science, MIS, or related field
Excellent knowledge of technical management, information analysis of mainframe
Good knowledge of a major subsystem (CICS, Db2, etc.).
Good understanding of mainframe processing loads across multiple customers.
Able to assemble performance data and create reports using available tools.
Familiar with change, incident, and problem methodologies.
Familiar with environments using a managed-service provider.
Able to observe and advise a team of contractors.
Able to serve as an intermediate escalation point for service issues.
Experienced with software cost containment techniques.
Strong organization, team player and building, resource/vendor management,

Base Pay Range:
The base pay range noted provides a basis to determine the appropriate offer dependent upon several factors including but not limited to geographic location, experience, skills, education and pay equity. Also, most employees are eligible for additional incentive pay.
$100,600.00 - $125,700.00 - $169,700.00
