Shift: 1st shift Machine Shop Supervisor in Pine Hall, NC
Role Purpose
Wieland is seeking a highly skilled
Machine Shop Supervisor. They will organize and complete machine shop work, including working with documentation on machine prints, layouts, material inventory and ordering. Will ensure all machine shop parts meet design and quality specifications. Maintains and repairs machine shop equipment and tooling. Makes recommendations on replacement parts.

About Wieland Copper Products located in Pine Hall, NC:
At the production site in Pine Hall, which was acquired by Wieland in 2010, copper tubes are produced in straight lengths and in coils which are then processed into smooth and innergrooved tubes. The site thus offers the full range of internally finned and smooth copper tubes.
Responsibilities:
Job Duties
Duties and responsibilities include (but not limited to) the following:
- Organizing and scheduling of shop work activities and orders which include breakdowns, projects and re-supply of storeroom parts based on priority
- Works with machinists to create layouts for, and performs machine operations with the following equipment: lathes, milling machines, surface grinders, universal grinders, and boring machines, manually and CNC-controlled.
- Performs basic drawing modification and works with documentation person and engineers on technical communication and documentation.
- Responsible for quality control and communication
- Oversees machine shop personal training and progress
- Responsible for pre material selection and supply
Qualifications
- 10 years’ Machinist experience or equivalent combination of experience and education
- 3 years' Supervisory experience
- Accepts and delegates high levels of responsibility for processes affecting the organization’s long-term welfare
- Ability to read blueprints and other technical communication and hold the communicated specifications
- Ability to make recommendations for improved machine work, product quality and technical communication
- Ability to troubleshooting and diagnose machine problems.
- Able to work from sample parts
- Knowledge of material science to Identify and select proper type of metals for job
- Able to work overtime
- Must be able to give accurate expense and time estimates
