The DSS the Office of Communications and Marketing (OCM) helps to develop digital and video content for the programs within the DSS (HRA, DHS, DSS). OCM’s functions including communications and marketing functions for the Agencies. This includes client- and provider-facing communications, digital communications (social media, video production, website, intranet), as well as internal communications to different program areas, leadership, and staff. Additionally, OCM handles all external marketing and advertising, including that which is placed in subways and on buses, internet channels, local and ethnic print channels, and radio, among others.

The DSS the Office of Communications and Marketing (OCM) is seeking one (1) Supervisor Office Machine Operations who will function as a Machine Operator.

Under general supervision of the Mailing Supervisor, with latitude for independent judgement and decision, the Machine Associate performs difficult and responsible supervisory work as an associate machine worker in the operation, set-up, maintenance, and the adjustment of the very complex forms and negotiable document mailing equipment.

The Machine Operator will:

  • Assist lead operators with operating, set-ups, and makes adjustments for all mail Inserting machines,
various imprinting machines, postage meters, and folding machines

  • Prepare Daily Production Reports summarizing job name, envelopes processed, total reprints and
postage expenditures

  • Verify counts of negotiable documents utilizing built in verification

  • Ensure zip code presort rules are maintained and mail jobs are placed in trays according to United
States Postal Service regulations

  • Provide production/status data to the mailing Supervisor to ensure sufficient stock levels are
maintained for uninterrupted production

  • Release completed jobs to the Milling Supervisor

  • Operate Jogging Machines and Strapping Machines, when needed

Minimum Qual Requirements

1. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and two years of satisfactory, full-time experience in the operation of office machines, such as photocopying machines, state-of-the-art scanning and digital reproduction equipment, including bin sorters and bin collectors, blueprint copying machines, digital postal machines, digital cutters, offset and bookbinding equipment, platemakers and associated equipment. An associate degree or 60 credits from an accredited college may be substituted for one year of experience; or

2. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" above. However, all candidates must have a four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and must have at least one year of experience as stated in "1" above.
