S HIFT: Evening Shift
HOURS: 2 pm to 10:30 pm
SUMMARY:
The Laundry Operator is responsible for the processing, distribution, and storage of washable linen garments and other items. Performs basic laundry tasks which include washing, ironing, pressing, folding, mending, labeling, inspection and fabrication of specialty items. The Laundry Operator works in a front line position in the Laundry Division of the Environmental Services Department.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Performs duties in a timely manner.
  • Adheres to isolation procedures.
  • Washes hands following proper hand washing procedures.
  • Observes Standard Precautions at all times, included but not limited to handling soiled linen.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of how to handle hazardous waste safely and appropriately, following safety rules and guidelines.
  • Reads Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) correctly.
  • Ensures transfer, mixing and handling of hazardous materials are in accordance with policy and regulation.
  • Ensures that all bottles/containers are clearly and properly labeled.
  • Is willing to change schedule to accommodate unanticipated cleaning requirements.
  • Records linen count.
  • Performs duties as trained including but not limited to; fold and stack linens, sorts out substandard linen, loads exchange carts and makes linen distribution according to established inventory levels.
  • Operates equipment in a safe and proper manner, including but not limited to; extractors, scales, tumblers, ironers and folders.
  • Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and facility regulations, laws and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
  • Understands and adheres to compliance standards as they appear in the Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct, and Conflicts of Interest Policy.
  • Demonstrates age-specific skills as required by position.
  • Offers suggestions on ways to improve operations of department and reduce costs.
  • Attends all mandatory education programs.
  • Improves self-knowledge through voluntarily attending continuing education/certification classes.
  • Maintains required competency levels as identified in written exams, skills checklists, skills labs, annual safety and health requirements as well as service excellence education hours requirements.
  • Willing to cross-train in order to better assist co-workers and to provide maximum efficiency in department.
  • Volunteers/participates on hospital committees, functions, and department projects.
  • Manages resources effectively.
  • Reports equipment in need of repair in order to extend life of equipment.
  • Makes good use of time so as to not create needless overtime.

OTHER INFORMATION:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Laundry related experience preferred.
