 Aviagen is currently seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of Laboratory Vaccine Technician for the Hatchery located in Elkmont, AL.

										- Measures, mixes and prepares vaccines according to standardized procedures.
- Maintain inventory and may be required to order vaccine at some locations.
- Receive and evaluate vaccines for quality according to standardized procedures.
- Maintain a clean and sanitized work area and tools.
- Maintains vaccine and test records.
- Collects lab samples.
- Follows company policy and meets or exceeds established procedures regarding bio-security, animal welfare, safety, ISO, strain security, harassment and discrimination, drug and alcohol, and email/internet policy.
-  Work schedule may require early mornings, evenings and weekend work.
 
- Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
-  Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and
 correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees
 of organization.
-  Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole
 numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent
 and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
-  Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in
 written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several
 concrete variables in standardized situations.
-  To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet
 software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software
-  While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand and
 use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to reach with
 hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk; sit;
 stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell. The employee must frequently lift
 and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
 Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth
 perception and ability to adjust focus.
-  While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes or
 airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid
 conditions; moving mechanical parts; bio-hazard chemicals. The noise level in the
 work environment is usually moderate.
