We are looking to add a Laboratory Automation Engineer to our Laboratory Team.The Laboratory Automation Engineer provides expertise on the programming, integration and validation of liquid handlers in the laboratory, primarily for Next Generation Sequencing assays.
Core Responsibilities Include:
- Automates existing complex assays on liquid handlers, including development of Standard Operating procedures documenting their use.
- Drives automation of molecular and NGS assays.
- Writes and finalizes validation protocols and reports according to standard guidelines when they are available. May publicly present study results. Responsible for accuracy and completeness of auditable documents.
- Train and support clinical laboratory staff on the use of liquid handlers.
- Supports development projects, which can include generating analytical data for CAP accredited/CLIA certified assays.
- Independently operates laboratory equipment such as thermocyclers, next generation sequencing platforms, spectrophotometers, fluorometers, centrifuges, cell counters, autoclaves, scales, and DNA isolation workstations.
- Performs data analysis using available software such as Microsoft Excel, JMP, and GeneMapper.
- Ensures that laboratory reagents are properly stocked, equipment is maintained, and that laboratory bench is clean and clutter-free.
You Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry or a related field of study and 2+ yearsof experience with automating assays in liquid handlers (i.e. JANUS, Hamilton, Tecan), preferably in a clinical lab environment.
- Working knowledge in automating molecular and NGS assays.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint) and the ability to learn new software programs.
