HBTRC Laboratory Assistant
- (3244283)GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:
This is an undergraduate-level lab assistant research position in the Harvard Brain Tissue Resource Center (HBTRC) at McLean Hospital. This position would be suitable for someone with a background and interest in neuroanatomy, neuropathology, and brain-related disorders. The individual will be part of a team assisting in tissue distribution to researchers across the world. Previous experience working with post-mortem human tissue specimens is preferred, with further training and supervision by senior lab members. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under supervision, the laboratory assistant will assist with work in the HBTRC laboratory.
Duties include:
- assisting with acquisition and distribution of post-mortem brain specimens
- data-entry
- maintenance of HBTRC laboratories and organizing supplies
- helping develop and evaluate new methods for optimizing tissue storage
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma.
Currently enrolled in 4-year College.
SKILLS/ ABILITIES/ COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
- Experience or relevant coursework in biology, psychology, and neuroscience-related courses
- Detail oriented.
- Ability to methodically record data and laboratory procedures.
- Ability to follow instructions.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of team.
