The Kids Clubhouse Childcare Director is responsible for planning, directing and supervising all operations, programs,

staff and partnerships for members ages five through thirteen who are enrolled in the Kids Clubhouse childcare

program in Newport, RI. This person will be responsible for creating an environment that is safe, structured and

engaging for our Club members. Ideal candidate will have experience improving quality, growing capacity, and

building a high functioning team.

Position Type: Full-time, salary range 45,000 – 60,000

Job Requirements


  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in youth development required
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in childcare program administration and management
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a youth development related field required
  • Citizenship, residency or work VISA in the United States required.
  • Bilingual Spanish preferred
  • All staff are expected to assist with our major fundraising events and in our fundraising activities
  • Staff must be flexible as our schedules change to serve our members – evening and weekends are

expected during the school year

  • Must have or attain Chauffeurs license within first 90 days

Experience:

  • Demonstrated organizational, staff and project management abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise staff and youth
  • Demonstrated ability to work with youth from a culturally diverse population
  • Ability to interact with the public in a professional manner
  • Ability to plan, originate, organize, and carry out daily and special programs
  • Marketing experience – to develop and execute marketing strategy to maximize program enrollment

Job description/duties


PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The Kids Clubhouse Childcare Director is responsible for supervising program staff in our Kids Clubhouse

program (Licensed Childcare for youth ages 5-13), overseeing all program operations (including transportation,

morning and afternoon care, school/ summer vacation programming) and implementing a quality and

comprehensive program plan utilizing tools and strategies set forth by the Boys & Girls Club of America and

local organizations.

KEY ROLES

1. Oversee the implementation of a quality and comprehensive program plan utilizing tools and

strategies set forth by the Boys & Girls Club of America, local and federal funders and the RI

Department of Education

2. Ensure that programs are properly supervised, staff are appropriately trained and are equipped with

the supplies needed to implement a high quality program experience

3. Ensure a safe and respectful environment. Orient staff/members and ensure adherence to club rules,

policies, expectations, and emergency/safety protocols. Ensure all safety equipment and supplies are

inventoried, stocked and in in its assigned location. Address all issues in a timely manner

4. Actively recruit and build membership to achieve maximum engagement and revenue goals. Collect

and aggregate data through our Member Tracking System (MTS) and club developed dashboards to

demonstrate success

5. Ensure that the Club is represented at community building activities, meetings and professional

development opportunities

6. Oversee behavior management processes and implement an incentive plan to motivate youth to

participate in programs/services, act responsibly and improve skills that impact youth success. Create

an environment that highlights member achievements

7. Define, develop, track and monitor KCH goals related to quality, attendance and revenue and

implement a plan to achieve stated goals

8. Ensure program staff abide by the Childcare and Covid regulations for licensure. Compile all required

documentation

9. Assist in the evaluation of club-wide programs and services. Evaluations include the Formula for

Impact, Brightstars, National Youth Outcomes Initiative and RIPQA

10. In coordination with the Director of Operations and Member Experience, support hiring, orientation,

training and supervision of program providers and staff

11. Oversee program activities, staff scheduling (efficiency and safety focused), budgets and daily

operations. Monitor budget and ensure adherence to grant expectations and internal strategic

priorities

12. Establish and maintain contact with program partners, vendors, local business, housing developments

and others to publicize programs and create a premier program experience for all youth

13. Oversee summer learning programs that benefit KCH participants and assist in the preparation,

training and operations of Camp Grosvenor

14. Assist with major fundraising efforts including events, community and in person engagement and

written requests, recruitment, solicitation or follow up calls, vendor calls, and other calls

15. Assist in the expansion of KCH programming as it aligns with the BGCNC strategic plan

16. Ownership, administration and responsibility for overall licensed childcare program.

17. Support overall mission of BGC Newport and provide leadership, demonstrate active participation in

team activities

18. Support peers with family engagement events

19. Create and maintain a staff professional development schedule. Ensuring reporting staff fee

supported and growing professionally

20. Other duties as assigned

members annually.

The BGCNC offers a variety of programs for children, teens, adults and families. Programs include after school

licensed child care, homework help, a teen center, summer camp, swimming lessons and aquatics, a fitness center,

dance and drama, computers and technology, music and music production, and the fine arts.
